you should (please) post more/better/larger pics of this bass. From the scale of those images it is hard to tell what it is let alone why its worth that much money. Please hook us up with more info.

What are you asking for it? TB rules require a For Sale price.

most of the photobucket pages I goto off of TB links are the mobile web versions and clicking the tiny thumbnail just gives me a mildly bigger thumbnail, but much blurrier thumbnail.

Which of the matrix basses on the Spalt website was this one modeled after?

Very interesting bass, i'll thought i'd put the pics up because Mobile Pbucket won't fully enlarge unless you copy and paste the "direct link" into your browser which is a hassle. This bass needs to be seen LARGE !!!

How does this bass sound, i'm not a buyer but boy it's got me curious.

Crossstick..... thank you soooo much for posting the larger pics!!! I really appreciate it. The bass has EMG DC35 pickups and the BQC System http://www.emginc.com/products/index/141/146/4 so it can cover pretty much and type of sound your looking for.

I had a nightmare last night and this bass was chasing me. I would be curious what it sounds like but could never get past that franken-bolt look.

Completely understandable but I've NEVER been one to go with the herd. No one ever has come up to me on the street and said..."aren't you the guy that was playing the '87 P Bass last night". They DO remember this, as well as most of my other basses! When I got my first Steinberger "L" in '82 most folks thought that it was a nightmare too.

Man, I downloaded this picture of this same bass about 5 years ago

I wish I could test this bass out, it looks wild.
I love it.

I'm curious; are the shiny parts stainless steel or polished aluminum?

2 Answers At Once!

The "shiny" parts are chrome plated, cast aluminum (resonant, lighter and more stable than wood)..... and are beautifully done. The weight on my digital "scientific bathroom scale" is 9#. It is NOT a cumbersome bass at all, it's a "5 set bass". I've owner MANY basses that at the end of 3 sets, I was SCREAMING for relief. "Can we say..... Alembic Series One & Two"? I thought you could.

Michael Spalt truly knows what he's doing and using modern technology and materials (Ned Steinberger is one of my heroes too) has addressed many issues common to contemporary (read: old) basses. I know this bass isn't for everyone but few of us actually still play harpsichords and gourds anymore, do we?

Can you video the sound?

Can you video the sound?
Slap tone and chords?

If I did not have a studio (expenses)
I''d buy it

I'm Connecticut, I should drive just to hear it, (Ha, Ha)

You're right, just drive over and the coffee, or drink of your choice (!) is on me. Hearing and seeing is believing. I have no studio, or recording capabilities, but my door is always open to my low end friends. Ken
