Custom Status Graphite "Musicman" Streamline

Sign in to disble this ad
I apologize for being *that guy* who says the cliche "I never thought I'd sell this bass..." but some major things have come up this week that have pretty much made it necessary.

We just found out that we're expecting baby #2 and literally within days had to replace the wife's dead vehicle with a new one, so I've got some sacrifices to make in order to make things work.

Rob Green built me an absolutely amazing custom 34" Streamline with just a single Musicman-style pickup. (I only know of one other one) I played the normal Streamline and loved it, but the tone of this bass with the pickup in the sweet spot blew it away. Just the right amount of punch and growl without having to work at blending two pickups. A perfect combination of Status and Musicman!

While I'm not happy about letting such a custom piece go, I can justify it under the circumstances.

The bass is in absolute dead mint condition and has never left the house for a gig or rehearsal.

SOLD!

Info from the Status site:
The Streamline Bass is a one-piece, woven graphite composite instrument.
Its compact design may be light-weight but it is a true, professional bass guitar which delivers all the quality you would expect from any Status Bass.
The 24 fret fingerboard has a regular 34" scale. Only the body is smaller to make it more convenient when travelling or in a space restricted gigging or studio situation.
An elongated upper body makes the balance perfect when used with a regular guitar strap but, to make sure the upper fret access is not restricted, the back of the neck and body has a deep recess.

If this does not sell by Andy's GTG then you should come on by there with this graphite goody.

This is outright cruel. That is the neatest stick carbon I've seen.

Unfortunately I don't have any clips...

The pickups are Status' own Hyperactive pickups, run through their 2 band EQ (and a single volume control). I usually like having a 3-band EQ to control the mids, but honestly this setup has no need for it and has no lack of midrange at all.

The string spacing is 19mm.

My bathroom scale is showing this weighing in at 6.7 lbs!

I realize it's a little different looking, but within minutes of this being strapped on, you'll be amazed at how comfortable it is. The elongated upper horn makes a huge difference and you'll almost forget about the small body. This will blow away any Steinberger you've ever had to try to get comfortable with!

Here are a couple stock photos of the back of the bass to show just how much thought went into playing comfort:

sorry that this is not a buying inquiry but where did you get that wall mount?
I want to mount my headless on the wall but as you know that takes some creativity

I've never been one that can describe tone or sound in words. I can say that I've owned close to a dozen Status basses over the years for a reason.
I don't buy into the theory that graphite sounds "sterile" or "cold" at all - quite the opposite. It's just my opinion here, and I'm only going by my experiences with Status, but I find that the Status basses are very even sounding and extremely articulate, yet are also very warm. You'll sit in the mix perfectly, yet still hear every note you're playing.

Having the single MM pickup took everything I liked about the Status sound and made it that much better by having the pickup in the sweet spot. It's got just the perfect amount of warmth, punch, articulation, etc. without having to do a much tweaking at all. And I've found a little EQ goes a long way.

Hope that wasn't a lot of rambling that said nothing.

Not at all. I have had three Status basses and the have a unique voice all there own. That's why I want to understand the MM pickup

What a sharp bass!
What strings do you put on it? Gauge?

$2250 and I will cover all shipping and insurance within the Continental US
I'll also include the wall guitar hanger shown in the pictures

Thanks!

You can use either single or double-ball strings, which is nice...
