Custom Steinbacker fretless bass Custom Steinbacker fretless bass, completed recently. You can see my build thread from concept thru completion: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/co...2/index11.html
All info is there but to summarize; the body is made of a single slab of Korina w/black binding, a custom etched silver-leaf Gildaxe finish which was exquisitely final-finished by Pat Wilkins/Wilkins Guitars. Pictures do not do it justice. It also has a custom designed/cut pickguard of clear acrylic w/a painted base, and a carbon fiber neck stabilizer plate. The neck is a lined-fretless 24 fret Steinberger USA from the early 90's. The bridge is a Steinberger DB. It has Bartolini pu's (MM at the neck and J at the bridge) and an Aguilar OP-2 9V pre-amp w/an active/passive switch. It is strung w/La Bella double-ball flats, and I will include a single-ball adapter w/round-woundstrings. (attached and installed in minutes) I will include a new hardshell case and a new black leather strap w/Dunlop strap-lock's and shipping (US only) will be free. I will consider sales outside of the US - please contact me and we'll talk. My asking price is $7000. I am selling it to help get my Gildaxe biz started - otherwise I would keep it. It is a very special one-off bass - sounds great and plays like a dream - not another like it anywhere and frankly I won't consider building another. It is signed (by me), dated and numbered and its owner will be included on my Gildaxe.com registry.
