This is basically a new bass, save for the neck which was the foundation for building this bass.
First off, the neck is amazing. It has a music man type finish with wax or oil, not sure, but it is flat and does not wear into a shine like other basses with a flat finish. It is from a custom handmade bass from Bill Giebitz, the body was thrashed so I built this bass around the neck since it was one of the best I have played.
The only issue is cosmetic; there are some holes in the back of the headstock from the original Wilkinson tuners.
Neck profile is like a '64 jazz, 1.5" at the nut.
Body is from warmoth as was the antigua finish
Hammond Darkstar pickup
Bayou wiring harness
orange drop cap
Gotoh 201 bridge
Hipshot ultralight tuners
Strung up with LaBella Flats
Weighs in at 8.4lbs and is well balanced.
I only recently built this up, but I have been having some issues with arthritis and fatigue in my hands, and I am selling all my long scale basses and a few of my shorties.
The bass absolutely kills, really nails the '72 Phil Lesh sound that these pickups are made for.
