Dean Edge Unlined Fretless w/ OHSC -- Pix Added

Sign in to disble this ad
Excellent condition with very little wear. Korean made in what I've heard is the same factory as MIK Spectors... Not 100% sure about that though.

It's a cherryburst finish over a basswood body. Three-piece maple and walnut(?) neck. Unlined rosewood board. 9V Dean 2-way preamp and passive Dean soapbar p-ups. Currently strung with DR black beauties that have tons of life left in them and they're easy on the FB. MWAH for days and days and days. Tight defined low-B. Very light weight bass although I do not have a scale to weigh with at the moment. Balances well sitting and strapped. Comes with the original Dean hardshell case that's fitted for this bass (although any rounded bottom bass should fit well) whic his also in good shape.

This bass doesn't have to be a back-up or a starter fretless it is a fantastic-sounding and -playing bass regardless of the price tag. It's good to go right out the door stock but it would stand toe to toe with ANY bass regardless of price if you re-did the electronics/p-ups.

These sell for around $400 new and the cases go for $89.99 at MF. I'd like to get $275 OBO shipped to the 48 only.

Pictures coming shortly (I'm posting from work).

PM me with any offers or questions. No trades at this time.

Thumbs up

These are great basses, regardless of cost. I had a 4 that was very comparable to a similar Stambaugh. They're that good. If I wasn't expecting a fretless 6, working on another bass & otherwise broke, I'd be looking pretty hard at this...

Man, if that were a 4-banger, I'd snatch it up in a second.

I was wrong: It's 35" scale. There is no passive push/pull.

Are you sure it's 34"? Every & I mean EVERY Dean 5 or 6 I've ever seen(& I browse WAAAAY too much )has been 35" That, coupled w/the fairly narrow spacing, is my only gripe. If it's truly 34" there could be trouble... ..

I'm going to measure tonight. Currently I only have a hard ruler on the edge of a 2' level to measure with. I'll get the tape measure out tonight.

I believe I found the confusion. The specs for the Edge fretless models are incomplete, only listing the scale length and nut width for the 4 string model (see below):

http://www.deanguitars.com/edge_456_fretless.htm

Edge 4, 5 & 6 Fretless
* 4, 5 & 6 Strings Available
* Basswood Body
* 34" Scale & 1-9/16" Nut
* Grover Tuners
* Black Hardware
* Soap Bar Pickups with Dean Pre-amp
* Bolt-on Maple & Walnut Neck
* Rosewood Fingerboard
* Dot Inlays
* 24 Frets

I believe that these specs for the 5 string fretted Edge also would apply to the fretless Edge (except for the part about frets!).

http://www.deanguitars.com/edge_5.htm

Edge 5
* 5 String
* Basswood Body
* 35" Scale & 1-11/16" Nut
* Grover Tuners
* Black Hardware
* Dean Pre-amp
* Bolt-on Maple & Walnut Neck
* Rosewood Fingerboard
* Abalone Dot Inlays
* 24 Frets

Does that sound correct?

Whew- that almost derailed my latest Warwick scheme...

Edit: Still a very nice bass, & still very tempting.

Thought I had a buyer but he stopped communication so it's still available... It'll be hitting the bay soon and will probably go for a little bit more than I'm asking.

Any takers before the bay?
