Was trying to hold onto this one, but sadly she has to go (taxes due)! So no trades on this one!
Details:
198? Fender Precision Bass
Made in Japan - Sunburst Finish!
nut width = 1 5/8" (and very thin for a P front to back)
weight = 8.5 (8 1/2) lbs
"E" Serial #
Has a USA made EMG pickup, making this bass perfect for the modern player wanting that classic P-Bass looks and feel. I do have to say that the USA EMG really does sound wonderful (not harsh or "clanky" to my ears (maybe because it's an older one???). Some people don't like EMG's, but it really seems to work in this bass.
The neck is pretty thin for a P front to back and has a really sweet amber tint to it. Looks more like a 60's or 70's era neck because of how much it has tinted. Very lightweight for a P!
Nice medium-low action and very little fretware for an instrument of this age (mainly because the bass has had flatwound strings on it for most of it's life and she has flats on her currently as well).
Why buy a new "relic" bass (with fake wear) when you can get the REAL deal.
Neck has a beautiful amber tint to it from it's age. Simply gorgeous! Plays and looks great (if you don't mind some honest wear). $625 which is a VERY fair price for a vintage P IMHO.
