Dingwall Super J 5-string FS - Natural Ash

Sign in to disble this ad

Nearly new Dingwall Super J5, with upgrades including gorgeous natural ash body, front route with baltic amber pickguard, and pearl blocks. Standard Dingwall Super J electronics: Super Fatty pickups, vol with pull-up passive option, 4-way pickup selector switch (neck, series, parallel, bridge), bass/treble. Way-cool Dingwall magnetic cover battery compartment in back. Weight 9.5 lbs per Sheldon, quoted from the Dingwall forums. New prototype Super J Dingwall strings, designed to make the B-string really stand up and shout (which it does, BTW).

Bass is in essentially new condition, bought a couple of months ago from Jong at Jive Sound. Played at church gig three times, three rehearsals, some play at home. No significant cosmetic or functional issues.

I really hate to sell this bass - it's absolutely beautiful, and the Dingwall workmanship and detail are amazing. I LOVE the fanned frets, and it is SO comfortable to play. Each string has near identical tension (due to the different scale lengths for each string) and the upper strings sound full and defined, not tinny and tight. GREAT B-string at 35", even though it is shorter than the standard Dingwalls, which are 37". Overall tone is awesome: full, clear, aggressive, and balls-to-the-wall.

Unfortunately I just can't get MY sound out of it in the church where I do most of my playing. I've gone round and round with myself over this, but bottom line is it's gotta go. So here's the scoop:

Asking $2900 including professional packing and shipping to lower 48, Paypal or USPS money order only, includes Dingwall gig bag. Prefer outright sale, might consider trades +/- cash for Sadowsky 5-string basses, newer Macbook Pro, not much else.

More pics (most of these are pics I got from the Dingwall forum and Jong - I can take more, but it looks exactly the same now as it did when I bought it):

These basses are as good as it gets. At a used price, they're
an even better deal. Just a frightening bass.
