Early 80's Yamaha BB5000

Early 80's Yamaha BB5000.
Here's a link to the thread I purchased from:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/f...beauty-896359/
After purchase, I brought the bass to Philtone in baltmore to get fully checked out/ adjusted/ set up and frets leveled/ dressed. http://www.philtone.com
It now plays like a dream, currently strung with DR flats, low B.
It's in better shape than when I received it.
Normal wear on the body for an over 30 year old bass- swirling, some nicks, but nothing major.
I'd like to get close to what I paid, not including the new strings or work I had done (which was about $125.00 total).
The soft case that came with it had it's zipper blow out, but I will ship in another gig bag.
Asking $750.00/ paypal/ shipped and insured to the lower 48.
Willing to entertain reasonable offers.

Frets and fretwork are immaculate, not a buzz anywhere on the neck

That's a very sweet bass.

Yes it is quite the player!
Just wanted to add that as can be seen in the linked thread when I purchased,
There is no surround for the neck pickups. It was removed to facilitate better pickup height adjustment.
But, these are still made for some current models so as far as being a cosmetic concern, it can be replaced.

Thanks!
Wishing I could keep it but am in need of a particular type of amp for a new project.

What kind of amp are you trying to get?

Trades: I need a vertical 2x12 cab. Bergantino AE would be ideal, or TC electronic... I also have cash toward the right deal.

I'd also do a pair of the right 1x12's.
I have the amplifier itself, needing light weight cabs.

Still here for now

how much does it weigh? Is the neck slim or fat? I've never had the chance to try one out but I have small hands and prefer the Ibby neck (but don't like how they sound).....

The bass is around 8.5 lbs, surprisingly light... those
big old vintage tuners add quite a bit.
At the 1st fret the width of the neck front to back is about 11/16"....
more toward a fender in size.
However, the thing I like about these basses is that the neck is modern feeling; 24 frets, a nice taper, and very sweet heel.
I would think the spacing would be a help if hand size is really an issue.

thanks for the info on this bass
8.5 lbs is too heavy for me so I guess I'll have to look elsewhere.....

No problem, good luck on your search.
