Early CELINDER VJ4

Sign in to disble this ad
Rare early example of Celinders work before they were Updates and Vintage models.
'94 Celinder VJ 4 : Danish alder body, flamed maple top, rio-rosewood fingerboard, Celinder passive J p/ups. , one 3-switch blend, 1 vol. 1 tone. Bass 'sings' like an old Fender J, with huge tone, low super fast action. It is from 94 and has been played so much that it feels and sounds like a true vintage - only without the fuzz! It's an awesome player.

This is a history of the bass as far as I've been able to trace: originally Custom ordered by Lars Danielson (session hot shot, now working out of L.A); then with Mads Tunebjerg of Kashmir (heard on some of their collaborations with D. Bowie).
I am only putting up for sale to purchase another bass, if it sales then this bass is off the market.

I might be wrong, but you might want to add that this is a FRETLESS? or maybe the pictures are deceiving?

You are correct, the bas WAS fretless when I got it. I sent it in and had it fretted. I also bought a Celinder CP3 to go in it but told him not to install it because I wanted to play it passive/fretted then decide whether I wanted to install the pre. Turns out, it sounds phenominal passive, but if someone wants the pre I will throw it in for an extra $150.

Nice looking instrument. Humbuckers or single coils?

Hum cancelling singles, if I'm not mistaken.

Do you mean hum reducing singles, or humbuckers? I'm not aware of any humbucking single coils...

All I know is there is no hum, haven't taken the pickups apart to see. The casings are bigger that singles but smaller than soapbars (which are smaller than humbuckers)

Cool. Thanks! I'll assume humbuckers in smaller casings than usual, then.
