This bass is very nearly new - great shape, feels and plays great. The color *is* dark blue - darker than you see on the EBMM web site. Very cool looking, navy blue.
The only defect I could find on it was a tiny ding at the very tip of the headstock (it looks more like paint might have just rubbed off rather than been dinged).
Anyway, if you know what a Bongo is, then I don't need to tell you much more. Price is $1100 firm.
I will consider trades for other 5 strings with 34" scale - Sadowsky or Sad metro (yes, I'd also add cash). No 4's or cheap 5's.
I will ship anywhere in the US if you pay for it. I will consider international shipping, but PM me first.
PM me with any questions.
Thanks!
This bass is in primo condition - if you want a Bongo 5, this is the Bongo 5 you want. Slaps MUCH better than an HH, sounds great, feels great.
Comes with a deluxe Ritter gig bag.

It is probably Carbon Blue Pearl, which is a much more understated, grey-ish blue. Pearl Blue is very bright. My last Bongo was a Carbon Blue Pearl and I liked it a lot, however it turned to not be my preferred tone either. GLWS!

A slightly older color - I see. I'll update my listing. Thanks!

Are you implying that the S pickup gives a better overall tone for funkslap? I know these are issues which really ( or ideally ) need to be tried out by each individual in person due to their subjective nature but still I'd appreciate any "subjective" clarification you could give on this specific issue with this instrument.
PS. I've never really understood some peoples concern that a second pickup near the neck would somehow interfere with slapping. Even with a rather fierce and forceful thumb-slap attack I've never had an issue with that on any dual pickup EBMM instrument. I'm guessing that you aren't speaking of that issue at all but are more commenting on the overall tone given by an S pickup. With which I am unfamiliar BTW. |

I find that I need some space for my "popping" fingers to get under the strings when slapping; That big-old Humbucker is pretty... well, big. Sure, you can lower it which I suppose would do the trick (I even lowed the Single coil p'up on this bongo).
My comments had nothing to do with tone, since I've only played the HH in stores and so cannot fairly compare the tone of an HH to an HS. I will say that with both p'ups up, this bass gets a very fun sound - It has that "music man" sound quality, but is bigger / Rounder than the single MM p'up on the Stingray & Sterling I used to have.

I do now see how one's technique could affect "slapability" concerning pickup placement and size. I guess I'm lucky that I've never had pickup issues with my particular slap and pop techniques. Especially because I do love the sound of HH equipped EBMM's. I would still love to try some HS models just to really hear and feel the difference.
Good luck with the sale! I'm more shopping around for a fretless at the moment but this Bongo of yours sounds like a lot of value for the price. |
