Elrick Classic 6 Bolt-on - Audere pre / Nordy DC's

Sign in to disble this ad
EDIT: price dropped to $2400

I hate to do this, but have to sell this sweet bass in order to put diapers on my 9 month old daughter. Tried to rationally debate it with my wife.... unfortunately I lost.

Note to self, when debating with your significant other about keeping gear, don't do it in a room FULL of gear.

For sale:

Elrick Classic 6 Bolt-on.

Body: swamp ash, burled maple top.
Neck: quartersawn maple.
Fingerboard: Bubinga

Original pickups - Bart soaps (standard Elrick issue)
Original preamp - Bart hi/low/mid (standard Elrick issue)

So, there's just the basics - if you can call an Elrick bass - basic (no pun intended ).... Here's the icing on the cake.

Hipshot B-extender (I usually use it for an A, but have gone down to a G before).

Audere pre with Z-mode switch.

Nordy DC's with series / parallel / coil tap switch
Custom radiused wood pickup covers. And I think I have an extra ramp to go with this bass as well.

All comes in a Elrick HSC.

Here are some pictures I took a few years back (when I wasn't into photography).

This is a player's bass. I had no problems cutting through the mix with this bass. Over the years, all the minor tweaking that I've done, I'm sort of proud of this bass.

There is some minor finish wear, and some buckle-rash.

I've been away from Talkbass for awhile, so I'm not up to date on current pricing. I'm hoping that $2400 US + shipping (OBO) is not out of line.

No trades, thank you.

Located in Toronto, if you want to stop by and check it out, you're welcome to do so.

BUMP for a Nordstrand DC loaded Elrick. I dig the tone from my DC loaded Elrick 5'ver!
Man, series/parallel-single/dual + an Audere Z-Mode ... this baby's really got tones galore.

I'm curious ... how did you fit the extra (2) toggle switches next to the original toggle spot? Any pics?

I'll have to check the S/N when I get home. From early 2000's I think. Wow, that makes me feel old. Oh, you're #13. Nice. I think I'm #18 in the Elrick club.

@ubadu:

The toggle switches (and again, I'll have to double check when I get home) are for series / parallel / coil tap. They are the two Bartollini black switches just underneath the bridge. The silver switch is the Audere Z mode, and the last little "hole" is the blue LED for the Audere pre.

It was a hell of a time trying to get all the electronics to fit. There is space for two extra switches besides the original two switches. The other bass in the picture was a bit more complicated. Dual Bartollini J's, along with dual Nord J's - with a dual Audere Pre Z-mode (z-mode switch for barts, and for nords separately). Along with series / parallel switches for the Audere group and for the Nord group).

The most difficult time I had with this bass was finding somebody who would make radiused pickup covers for it. Apparently, Nordstrand DC's don't fit in a cover the size of the Bart pups. According to Nordy, and some other "wood cover" makers.

Leave it up to a Canadian to do something others say can't be done. Nateo was kind enough to squeeze in these pups in the same size cover as the original Bart pups. Therefore, the installation didn't require any routing of the bass. It's a clean swap between the Nords and the Barts.

Thanks for the love. This bass was my go-to-bass for the longest time. Live shows, recordings, etc.

Agreed that Elrick + Nordy + Audere is a killer combo. Fat P-tone? No problem. Jaco mids at the bridge? One sec... got it. Slap like an F-Bass... here we go! Too bad I don't have the chops anymore. I can however change a diaper in under 1 minute.

I'm not sure what Rob is up to these days with his lineup, but when I got my basses from him, he didn't offer Audere or Nords - since they were relatively new on the scene - at that time.

MMM ... no routing? I guess your control cavity is routed different than mine ... where my switches are, there is just enough room for only the two switches.

Sorry, there has been some routing on the inside. I just took some shots. Will post.

After taking these pictures I realized that there is hardly any buckle rash and I could hardly see any finish rub anywhere on the bass.

In picture 4, you can sort of see a slight indentation by the piece of walnut. That was the only physical issue I could find.

No dents on the neck whatsoever.

It may look messy inside, but it's actually organized.

I can't quite remember, but I'm pretty sure the toggle switch is an active / passive, that I was going to get installed, but never got around to it.... sorry guys. Lots of cobwebs in my brain.

He still doesn't offer either. I got my Nordstrand combo (DC's and preamp) from a fellow Elrick Club member. The closest thing to my combo would be the Aero & Aggie combo that he offers.

Anyhoo ... BUMP for some sweet new bass porn. That top is over the top!

I'll weigh it when I get home from work.

I can tell you this, it's typical Elrick weight. Very comfortable for a 6 string.

I have 2 Singlecuts, one Walnut body, one Ash. These are both on the heavier side.

I have another 6'er (seen in the first pic). This one as well, is on the heavy side due to the 4 pups and dual-Audere pre.

Compared to the other 3, the one for sale is the lightest.
