Elrick custom 5 string NT 36" scale w/phenolic fingerboard

Sign in to disble this ad
This bass was custom made by Robert Elrick in about 1998. 36" scale phenolic (graphite) fingerboard, Bartolini active pups and preamps, ABM bridge, maple burl top with swamp ash body, wenge neck w/exotic lams, zero fret, straplocks, neck thru and the original custom hard shell case. weight 10.2lbs. It has some wear & buckle rash but nothing radical and I'll try to show it. This big bass has been on countless recordings and was my main bass for about 13 years. Needless to say the B string is tighter than anything else you can name. You want to talk about big bottom....this is it. I have rather extensive recordings of it which I will post the links to when I get home tonight. You simply won't find another one like this & to have an identical one made would cost you about 5k. $3000 shipped and insured. CONUS.

Controls are: vol. pick up pan, high, mid & bass. There's a 3 position mid range band switch & a passive/active switch.

Every single note on it has exactly the same value & volume....i.e. no wolf spots and no dead spots....they're all the same. Here's a link to one of my band's cds where it was used on every song: http://www.stopthetruck.com/canteen/legacy.html

It came with those small rubbery kind of plastic knobs. After a few years the volume knob stripped out so I just replaced them all with what you see. The two larger ones (volume & pickup pan) are for easier adjustment while playing.

Very nicely. No neck dive. It's very comfortable & I do own much heavier basses. You won't believe the notes below E on the B string. Absolutely massive.

What do you mean by "walnut burl top and sides"? (the sides part)

Killer bass, but that looks like a Maple burl top!

I guess you could say it's a big bass. It doesn't look so big on me. Here's an old photo from us playing a weird gig in Holland.

You won't find another one like this! On recordings this bass sounds like nothing else. I'm sad to do it, but I have legal fees to meet.

I was referring to another bass I have for sale. It's a SC made in 1980....pretty early on for that body style.
