ERNIE BALL Music Man 1988 Sabre - Black w/White PG, OG Parts

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!

Just bought some other bases (Zon, Clover) and need to make room. I already have a '79 Sabre w/rosewood neck, so this is one is "expendable".

This is a 1988 Ernie Ball Musicman Sabre bass (B027XXX serial number). Black w/white pickguard, all original parts. Bought from the original owner (who had two). The body finish is worn from normal use but the neck is very clean. Light fret wear (no grooves or flat spots that affect playbility). Electronics function perfectly. Neck is straight, action is low. Just put on some new strings and it sounds great. Dunlop straplocks are included.

Specs:
Body: Ash
Neck: Maple
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Scale: 34
Pickups: Music Man Sabre Humbuckers (original closed covers)
Preamp: Music Man 2-Band EQ w/5-way lever switch
Bridge: Music Man
Tuners: Music Man/Schaller
Nut width: 1.625"
Finish: Black w/White Pickguard
Case: Non-original SKB hardshell

SELLING FOR $1150 SHIPPED IN THE USA. International shipping is no problem, just PM me for a quote. No trades right now (have too much stuff on the way!).

Oh mother of mercy...

The 5-position switch... same functionality as on a HH Ray or Sterling or does it do something different?

Not if you actually want to sell it. That is a fair price.

They're going for between $1500 and $1900 on eBay.

You mean some people have asked that kind of money on ebay, and seen their auctions close with no bids, right?. I can't find any completed auctions showing that. Pre-EB Sabres, maybe...

Just kidding around fellas. Price isn't going anywhere. This is an EB Sabre, so no way I'm getting $1900.

I have one more. Custom '79 slab body three bolt w/1.5" nut and rosewood board. Just refinned by Wilkins and awaiting some custom nordstrand electronics (if Carey ever gets back to me)

The price is fair... just wish I had it in-hand. I doubt you'll be sitting on it long.

Great pix too BTW.

I love the idea of closed-cover pickups. They should be a stock option. Good luck with the sale!
