ESH Germany Various 5-String and Jazz 4 - Super Cool and Rare

Sign in to disble this ad
Here are two rare birds that you probably won't see anywhere else other than Talkbass.

Esh basses were made in Germany (Trier, I think?). The company got a great write up in Bass Player mag (Mar 2001, 4.5/5 for sound), but sadly, the company went under. I bought the Various bass from their West Coast sales rep; this was his "sample". Has a Kent Armstrong ESMM Stingray style bucker w/piezo bridge and the super cool Esh-tronic system (made by a sister company of Mercedes Benz). Dual 4-way rotary pots alllow 16 different tones from one pickup. The Jazz is a Fender/Sadowsky inspired joint. Black & Tan, all black hardware (super cool ABM bridge, Hipshot UL tuners), Ken Armstrong single coil J pickups (big slugs!) and Kent Armstrong 2-Band preamp/EQ.

This Various is in very good condition; the only real wear spot is right between the pickup and bridge (where the previous owner rested his thumb). It's got a pretty good depression, but it goes with the grain, so it's not super visible. Aside from that, some minor scratches and light buckle wear (not visible but you can feel it if you run your hand over the back). The Jazz is in excellent condition with just some fine scratches; no dings, dents or nicks. Both basses have medium action.

Specs:
Various 5-String

Neck: Maple
Scale: 34.25"
Frets: 24
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Pickups: Kent Armstrong ESMM Humbucker + Piezo bridge

Bridge: Aluminum ABM (adjustable spacing)
String Spacing at the Bridge: 11/16" (17.5mm, can be adjusted)
Weight: 9.2 lbs

Jazz 4
Body: Alder

Neck: Maple

Fingerboard: Maple
Pickups: Kent Armstrong Single J's

Asking $750 shipped in the US (for each one). International shipping is fine, just PM for quote. PayPal preferred. Trade offers are welcome (prefer 34" scale, 17-18mm 5-strings, but I'll look at anything). Thanks!

These are great basses. I used to own 2 Various 5'ers, an esh Sovereign and just sold my Notorious (J style) 5 string (due to reverse GAS)
