Essex (SX) Geddy clone, fully loaded!

Trying to make up some scratch for another bass I have my eye on, so the least-played in the stable has to go, hopefully quickly.

Bought this as my first purchase from TB from FrootBooty, and upgraded the crap out of it, as a learning experience.

Started life as a black + maple SX Jazz bass, and now sports a SD Antiquity II neck pup, SEIQ humbucking jazz pickup in the bridge, Audere JZ3 preamp, BadAss II bridge, Straplok strap buttons, completely shielded cavity (via shielding paint), black 3-ply pickguard, and custom logo on the the headstock.

The good: GREAT tone, I love the sound of this bass. Plays very well (the action is considered high by some, but that's all my basses) and what I'm asking is less than the price of all the upgrades. Very sharp bass - I get more compliments on the black blocks/maple black body combination than I do on any of my other basses.

The bad: It's a player, and has some wear - buckle rash on the back, a couple of spots by the control plate where the shielding paint got on the finish - probably nothing you couldn't elbow grease out. Also, the gain on one of the internal gain pots in the Audere is cranked, and I never got around to turning it back down. Very nice sound, just LOUD.

(The finish is okay where the license plate on my car should be - I blurred that out.)

At any rate, I'm looking for $300shipped for this bass.

Some sound clips are on my YouTube, linked in my sig.

The Audere was $150, the BAII was $60, I think, the pups together were probably in excess of $100, so I feel like it's a fair price. For an extra $40 I'll ship it in a brand new Rondo case - not the nicest case around, but almost new and perfectly functional.

Thanks for looking!

Oh, my bad - that was a typo. The SEIQ humbucker is the bridge pup - I couldn't find anything else like it on the net. FrootBooty installed it before I bought it from him.

Geddy.mp3 - 1.09MB

To answer several of the PMs I've gotten, this .mp3 should give you an idea of what she sounds like - my recording setup is suffering from gremlins, and the hum is not from the bass, it's from the mile or so of cable, I think.

First scale is the neck pup, then the bridge, then 50/50, with the EQ on the bass and on the amp flat. The little noodling around is with the EQ in my personal settings.

Turn your speakers down at first, at least.

And yes, I just realized I was slightly out of tune. You get the idea.

I would like to get some close up picks of the humbucker and the route job for it also is the neck striped of the finish

I'm pretty sure the gloss finish is still there.

When SX sells a bound 'n' blocked bass, the neck generally has a natural gloss finish as opposed to the Cheetos Brand gloss finish...

I have major gas for this bass. I am trying to convince the wife to buy this for me for Christmas. I will get back to you.

My gas is killing me indeed but my wife would kill before my gas does if I buy this without asking her first. If you're first in line then dibs are yours.

If this hasn't already been sold, would you sell without the preamp? If so, how much?
