F-BASS BN5 - Natural w/Enhanced Grain, 2 sets of Pickups/Preamp, Sweet Player

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!

Here's the cheapest F-Bass BN5 you'll ever run across. It's an amazing player and sounds great, but it's been heavily modded. The previous owner took out the original preamp and pickups and installed Bartolini pickups into the original wood covers and added a Bartolini preamp. I still have the original pickups and preamp and they will be included with the bass. The same guy also had started routing the bass for a larger Musicman style pickup put decided against it and re-filled the gap with wood putty. He did a poor job of it. He had this area covered by a homemade ramp, which entirely covered it up, but he kept the ramp. The upper horn was also reduced in size and sanded down. The cut portion of the horn is included with the bass. The bass balances perfectly, on your leg or on a strap.

The bass has been on a few tours and it shows; has finish wear all around the bass, but it's not visible from a few feet away since it's a natural finish bass. Lots of wear in the slap zone, some surface wear on the back. No really deep gouges though. I planned on having this bass refinished (will look almost new once Pat Wilkins gets through with it), but decided to just sell it as-is and let someone else have a project!

Neck is straight, truss rod works smoothly, action is very low. Frets have been leveled in the past and do not have any grooves or flat spots.

Specs:
Model: F-Bass BN5
Body: Ash
Finish: Natural Gloss w/Enhanced Grain
Neck: Maple
Scale: 34.5"
Frets: 24
Fingerboard: Maple
Pickups: Bartolini Soapbars
Preamp: Bartolini 3-Band
Controls: Volume, Blend, Treble, Mid, Bass, 3-Way switch (parallel/series/single), Active /Passive push/pull on Volume
Bridge: Hipshot A-style adjustable
Weight: 10 lbs

Selling the bass for $1550 shipped. Comes with the matching F-Bass gig bag and the original pickups/preamp, upper horn. PayPal preferred. Internatonal shipping is no problem, just PM me for a quote. Will look at trades for other high end 34" SCALE basses.

BUMP for one of the greatest sellers! BTW, I am SO IN LOVE with BN5 basses right now. I'd pay $2300 for this exact bass if someone knows magic and can undo all the wood cuts.

I have to be honest, i really like the way this bass looks with the cut upper horn... shame about the routing and wood putty.

LOL...enough with the pity! I bought the bass because I acually like the look of the bass with the cut horn AND because it's a sweet playing, smooth sounding bass. The previous owner was a touring bass player with some well-known gospel and smooth jazz acts. The neck feels perfect.

And if you send the bass in for a refin (around $300 - $350), you'd never be able to tell anything was done to it (other than the cut horn). Or just buy a ramp. Yeesh.
