F/S 1972 Fender Precision Bass - rare excellent condition

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is an extremely nice 1972 Fender Precision Bass (P-Bass). This is currently owned by the second owner who has had it for about 30 years. Never gigged, mostly used only in the studio. It is all original with the covers and original case and owners manual included. The neck date shows 1971. It has the long "G" intonation screw on the bridge. It is three tone sunburst with tortoise pick guard. Except for a couple small items, the bass (for a nearly 40 year old bass) it is nearly mint. The are some small engravings made on the neck plate, the body at the heel of the neck and on the back of the headstock, done by the original owner undoubtedly for an identifying marker in case it was ever stolen. You can see them in the pictures here on the additional ones posted on photobucket. Follow this link: http://s711.photobucket.com/albums/w...boy172/P-Bass/

Asking $2800 shipped. E-mail me with any questions. Thanks for looking!

I'm in love...
1.65 B neck, I guess???
Is it on the very chunky baseball or not too much side?

Sweet bass.
I have a 1971 like this. They play and sound great.
Mine is 8 lbs even.
Early 70's P-Basses are great.

1.625 on the nut "B" neck less chunky, very comfortable.

That's my favorite Fender neck! I've owned several early '70's with the B neck and they were "thin" rather than "baseball bat" necks. The '72 P's I've owned were probably the nicest all around Fenders I've had and were in the 8-8.5lb range. Plus Jeff is a great guy to deal with!

If I had some extra cash (or something I could move) I'd be all over this..

Guess I should have posted the weight. It weighs right at 9 pounds even. Not one of the late 70s boat anchors pushing 11 pounds.

Wow. I was born in '72. If you can wait a couple of weeks I might have some money from my wedding..... That's gorgeous.
