F/S 1986 Pedulla MVP 4 - Looks Like Hell, Sounds and Plays Like Heaven Greetings, shoppers. Check this out... Let me start by saying...NO TRADES. The purpose of this sale is an acute case of too-many-basses. This is a 1986 Pedulla MVP4 (the fretted version of the Buzz) that has a super-thin, fast neck. The body has taken a beating over the years, but the neck is nearly perfect. The back of the neck is ding-free, the ebony fretboard is in great shape, and the frets are great as well. The fretwork is as you would expect on a Pedulla (i.e. flawless) and it is capable of a very low-action buttery setting. I've got it set pretty low at the moment, in fact. Plays great! The only neck flaw is some varnish flaking around the edges - not noticeable without close inspection. Truss rod works as it should, and I'll include the wrench that fits it, which I got from Stu-Mac. Now, the electronics. When I got the bass the pots had an annoying "woosh" sound when turned - I was not a fan. So, I replaced the preamp with a brand new Bartolini harness: HR-5.4 - 5 knob prewired harness - Volume-Blend-Treble-Mid (w.switch) - Bass (NTMB-918F 3-band Preamp/Tone Control Module) I installed the harness with the push/pull (on the volume knob) active/passive switch, in case the battery (kept in the control cavity behind 4 screws) ever died in a live situation. In order to fit the electronics I needed to do a small amount of careful routing to the control cavity cover. The cover now fits great, and feels as though it has enough material to survive even the most aggressive refinish. The bass now sounds totally awesome - very flexible tonally. The (original) Bartolini pickups mate well with the Bartolini preamp - I believe that this bass sounds a lot like a brand-new MVP with this set-up. I'll include the original electronics. The LED light on the front is not wired to anything, and is likely dead. Strap locks (Dunlop) are installed. I'll put the original strap buttons on if the buyer does not want the locks. Original buttons included either way. On to cosmetics - the body is One possibility for the new owner...have Mike Pedulla refinish it for $675 (as quoted on the Pedulla website) and have a like-new MVP for well under $2K! Were I keeping this, I'd do this...but I just have too many basses. It's time for this one to make someone else happy. Original much-dinged but functional Pedulla HSC included. Price: $1,000. Price includes CONUS shipping. Discount for local pickup in Kent, CT or other nearby location. PayPal OK. One interesting offer so far... ...keep the offers coming (bump.) |
Is the red the original paint? |
Indeed it is! |
PM'd with offer. |
I believe that's my old bass. I special ordered it brand new in 1986. |
On Hold... ...pending finalization of the transaction. This one might soon be a Buzz! |
If it plays as good as it did when I had it someone is getting a great bass. |
Hey is that the one that was at GC in Manchester a couple years back? Played it a few times (it played great) and it always left me scratching my head with thoughts of, how could someone do that?! |
PM'd with purchase details. |
GC spufman, I did not get it from GC, but if you saw its distinctive paint pattern, then it must be the same one. This one looks like it could be going to California... |
Payment sent. |
Sold for $900 shipped to California. Thanks, and enjoy it, herrdruhl! Closing the thread. Thanks for all the interest. |
