F/S 1990 Fender Jazz Plus USA - Ash/Maple

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!
Price reduced to $750 OBO!

Up for sale is my 1990 Fender Jazz Plus made in the USA! Has active and passive capabilities.

I just got back from Bass Northwest, a bass only store, here in Seattle. I was telling Evan, the owner, about this bass and he said in the 16 years the store has been open, not one of these, a clear swamp ash and maple Fender Jazz Plus, has made it’s way into the store and he’s never seen one like this before. These are rare.

I’m the second owner. The original owner put her up for sale after 6 months of owning her and decided to stick with his walnut P bass and sell her to me. I bought the bass off him in 1991 and had her ever since. The bass has been in it’s original soft shell case for most of it’s life. I just don’t play it that much and my taste in tone has changed and I need the cash.

With the Ash body and the Maple neck this thing has focused lows, strong mids and more highs then you’ll ever need. This bass will get you closer to a Marcus Miller tone than a James Jamerson sound. With a thin, sleek, fast neck it’s a great slapper too!

For a 20 year old bass, I would say the condition of the bass is very good. On a scale from 1-10, I would rate it at 8.5 to 9. There are some very light scuffs and scratches here and there, but not a single major ding in the bass body. There is a minor ding near the truss rod access; it was there when I bought it.
I should note the control cover does have a scratch on it.
The control cavity in fully shielded. No hum or noise in the pickups or pots/knobs.
Comes with the original Fender gig bag.
Adult owned and never thrashed around.
For this rare beauty I’m asking $800 OBO. Reduced to $750 OBO

You can run trades by me but I really need the cash.
Would love a Pedulla 4 string fretless

I know I’m new here on Talk Bass and I assure you that I will take every step to make this a smooth transaction! Check out my feedback on Ebay, user name: echoes43.
I’ve had 84 transactions with 100% positive feedback.

Nice bass! I had one just like it, N001272, and it was the best Fender I've ever played. Blonde bump!

Wild. I have a '94 burst of that model, but more interestingly, I had a '93 Precision Deluxe plus that would make a nice mate for that. I sold it to a friend, but it's still around. Here's a pic of the J and the P, just for giggles.

NICE Precision Deluxe Plus. Munjibunga!!!
I've seen plenty painted alder bodies in the "Plus" series, but yours is only the second natural Ash body I've seen in the last 20 years!!!

I had a Maple Ash Precision Deluxe Plus. It was very nice but all my Peaveys rock just as hard. Great electronics on these guys. I will post a pic if I can find them they may not be on this pc.

Can you describe how the lace sensors sound?

In a quick answer, they sound like modern/updated jazz pickups. Very open and clean with an articulated top end, especially in active mode. I would describe the Lace Sensors as Fender does, low noise, high output and incredible response and sustain. When the Plus series came out, a lot of people raved about their studio quiet active electronics and I agree. The real advantage is in the Fender/Kubicki preamp. With passive, active, active w/ mid boost, bass and treble controls, I was always able to dial in any sound I wanted. From a bassy vintage sound in passive mode, to a bright, well defined modern tone in active.

Here is some more info on the pickups at Wikipedia:

Price reduction!

A couple of deals in the works but nobody has committed to buying. So I'm going to lower the price to $750 OBO!

I have a natural ash one and just picked it back up to learn how to play bass (I'm a guitar player) for a country band. Thanks for setting out what the controls do!!! ;-)
