OK, I just bought a Sterling SB14 and I have to move this piece, so...
For your consideration is this beautiful 2006 60th anniversary Fender Highway 1 Jazz Bass. I replaced the original white pickgaurd with a Fender 62 re-issue tortoise shell. Also included in the sale will be a WD tortoise guard that is more brown in color. The hole pattern for the WD is diiferent and there are a couple of extra holes in the body to accommodate it. There are also extra holes to accommodate the bell cover and the 62 finger rest position (on the G string side). Everything else is stock.
This bass really sings on the bridge pickup, lots of honk. Nice 9.5 radius fretboard, not too flat, not too round.
There is a wear spot about the size of a pea right behind the bridge pickup (where I play). The nitro paint is really thin and wears rather easily. On the topic of the paint, there are some shiny areas where the paint has been buffed out simply by my arm/sleeve resting on it and from the bass resting on my leg. It is still mostly a matte finish, and even the shiny parts are a dull shine (nowhere near a poly coated finish). It maintains the original factory finish.
There is a date stamp of Aug. 14 2006 on the neck heel, and a sticker with a date of Aug. 19th on the neck as well.
Bass is currently set up with 40-95 gauge strings and really low action. I would estimate a weight of about 10 pounds.
Don't hesitate to ask questions.
It is priced to sell at $499. SH will be $35, US only. Sorry, no trades. I accept postal money orders. May it find a good home.
