This is a '78 Fender Jazz.I am the original owner. It has several mods... mirror pickguard, bartolin pickups, Badass bridge, and D-extender. These mods are all of 70's vintage, made soon after the purchase. I do not have the stock fender factory parts. The bass has been refretted once since I have owned it. It is a player's instrument, and has dings and chipped paint along the upper horn, and lower bout. It plays beautifully, with flats or rounds. Tone is reminiscent of early Marcus Miller, before Sadowsky preamp, or Me'shell N'degeocello. The weight is at least 10 pounds, and this is reflected in the chunky, heavy tone.
It boasts the rare "Antigua " finish. Hate to let her go, but I must pare down my arsenal. $1950.00, shipped and insured CONUS) includes OHSC and I have an extra chrome knob somewhere......

| | | | I will say that this bass is a real workhorse. She has shared the stage with Blue Magic, The Intruders, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, and other Classic R&B acts. I hate to give her up. But I own a '67 Jazz that has a lot of recording history behind it, and I think one vintage Jazz is enough for me.The Antigua records excellently, I wish I could point you to the Jingles and tracks that she graced, but that would be beyond the scope of this ad. She has boasts flats now, but Roundwounds emphasize the throaty zing that this bass possesses. This bass has a solid thump that is magnificent. |
