Thanks for all the interest, this bass is Sold!
Really nice year old Fender Custom Shop Jazz 5. Really excellent condition, no dings or dents.
Sunburst over alder body
Tort Guard
Maple neck and fingerboard with pearl blocks and binding
34" scale
Fender ultralite tuners
Fender Noiseless pickups
Controls are volume, blend, stacked bass/treble and middle.
Weight is just over 9lbs.
Comes with C&G case with all case candy and cerficate.
The only issue I had with this bass were that the pearl side-dots couldn't be seen on stage so I had them drilled out and replaced with black dots. Very clean job, you wouldn't know if I hadn't told you!
Asking $1500 by Paypal shipped to the lower 48.
Not really looking for trades just now but you can try me if you want.

Also got asked if it was 60 or 70s style jazz. I think the Custom Classic is a modern take on the Jazz as it's meant to be a little thinner in the body but can't find out if the pups are in the 60s or 70s position. Again if any knows I'd be grateful. |

Again if any knows I'd be grateful. | Unless you order it as a custom option, it's the "standard" spacing, which is the 60's spacing. If you didn't order it new, it's still by far most likely 60's spacing. Personally, I like that best.
On the pickups, these are "noiseless" which means they are definitely not single coil. No way. I THINK they're split coil, but they could also be stacked dual coils. Prolly something online somewhere to verify this, but I'm too lazy to look it up. At least I can assure you they're not single coils, and that might really answer the asker's question anyway.
Insanely beautiful bass. Exactly my favorite aesthetic for a J bass... 3TS with a maple neck and pearl blocks. DROOL! |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Sep 2002 Location: Sacramento, CA | | | Thanks for the info Vic! It really is a good looking bass, pretty much my ideal of how a Fender should look, I won't be too upset if it doesn't sell, at least I can tell the wife I tried.
I first saw a Jazz bass in the early seventies in a store in England called Minns Music (ring any bells with the Brits?!). Sunburst, maple neck, pearl blocks, and probably weighed a ton, I never got to pick it up! It pretty much defined for me how a bass should look.
I've tried to measure the string spacing but I don't have an accurate enough means to be sure and can't find out on the web. Anybody? |

Fender doesn't say anywhere on their web site, and I've found posts and web content that say both, so I just got my USA Deluxe Precision V out and measured it (since it's the exact same bridge), and it looks like 18mm to me. Man, it always felt like my other 19mm basses when I play it tho. Good catch, Cheese. |

The other thing is, Fender seems to do a real good job of keeping the weight SUPER consistent on these. I've had multiple USA Deluxe P and J V's, and they all weight pretty much right at 9 pounds, which IMHO is the perfect weight for this kinda' bass, and yours seems real close to that too. |

That's what gives you that super straight grain. I've never had a problem with my flatsawn necks, but the quartersawn are supposed to be better in the Fenders. |

All the Fenders I have ever played comfortable as was my old Ken Smith Six, and KJung's Celinder I played. Those Custom Shop Active Fenders are sweet. Too bad they have been discontinued. |

I am about 98% sure this is how it is read.
PS- I wish a 1991 Warwick SSI would tempt you into a trade......
