F/S George Furlanetto Custom 5 (GFC / F Bass)

Custom Shop F Bass built entirely by George Furlanetto himself. Standard F Bass electronics and 9v preamp, 2 humbuckers with coil tap on bridge pickup. V/V/Tone/B/M/Treble with preamp bypass switch (passive and active modes). Ash body, one piece maple birdseye neck, all Hipshot hardware, 34 1/2 scale. Chrome bridge available with bass if requested. Signed by George on the back of the headstock and dated May 10, 2001. Asking $2600 plus actual shipping costs to your destination. This is pretty much a one of a kind bass.

More Pics

Different views. This bass has been played, it does have some scuffs and dings. I am trying to show all of these the best I can in the pictures, but even with the dings, it's a beautiful bass that plays and sounds like no other F Bass.

Beautiful birdseye neck and a pic of the worst of the dings.

For full disclosure, see the wear from the years of it being played.

Isn't that awesome? Yeah, that's exactly where this bass came from (after drooling over it for a long time on the F-Bass website). AFAIK, there are only 4 of them and they are all different colors. Which one do you have?

I belive I got to play this bass shortly after it was made. At least I played one that looked exactly like it at FBass. I thought it had a slighly more mid present sound over the standard BN5's at the time. I think the neck had a slightly different feel up near the nut as well. It's still a genuine FBass and built to Georges high standards. If I had the means I'd like to pick this one up. GLWTS.

flatter neck profile, more 70's placement on the pickups, the body style of course. My GFC L5 is more aggressive sounding than my BN5.

It must be either 2003 or 2004, I missed buying this bass from Jimmy by a few days! Looks great!

2001 actually, this was supposedly the first "prototype" of this bass and as far as I know there are only three others - in different colors. Thumbyache has the burst one that was bought at the CA Bass Exchange, and there is one (I believe the purple one) in Australia.

I'm kinda surprised there hasn't been more interest in this bass.

I don't have the exact weight right now, however it's considerably lighter than my black BN5, and also considerably lighter than my Warwick Infinity 4 string, which is right about at the 10 pound mark. It's right on par for weight with my Geddy Lee Jazz, but better balanced so you don't feel it as much, I'm guessing between 8 and 9 pounds.

OK, I weighed my myself with and without the bass twice on a digital scale - I know not the most accurate method in the world, but it came up with 9.5 pounds. Really surprised me as this bass feels considerably lighter to me as I said in my earlier post.
