Bought this from a TB'er about 3 months ago because I liked the look of this green jazz with black blocks. The bass (I call her Olive Oil -- i.e. the best thing to cook with) already had a brass nut and a Hipshot D'tuner when I bought her. Since then, I have added DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pickups and an Audere JZ3 preamp. Because I am a sucker for early 70's Jazz basses, I also added an ashtray bridge cover and a repro transition decal. Finally, the frets got a professional PLEK treatment from Gary at Real Guitars in San Francisco. This Jazz is dialed in and plays FANTASTIC. She is strung with DR Black Beauties. Comes with RONDO padded hard case.
NOW JUST $415 SHIPPED.

| | | | You know I think SX (essex) makes pretty nice instruments - this one however has been taken over the top!
Nice, nice, nice!

I am in the process of responding to all PM's. Thanks |

I thought about changing the bridge to a BadAss II or a Hipshot. But this one intonates fine, adjusts well for string height, has fairly good sustain and stays in tune. Given those factors, I saw no reason to change it. |

I am in the process of responding to all PM's. Thanks | I'm glad you like the mod's that I installed! I sold that off when I was in DIRE need of another head... and now REALLY wish I could justify buying it back... I can only imagine how killer this thing is NOW! The brass nut did WAY more than I thought possible to improve the tone. I'm a believer now, a tremendous improvement to the plastic that SX sends out... Here's a bump for a KILLER bass.

No buzz, slots are cut to the perfect depth. As I said, with the string retainer and the brass nut, this thing just sings for days. My hat is off to you sir. |
