F/S Lakland 55-01 Fretless w/ upgraded pups

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale only is a 2006 Lakland 55-01 fretless bass with upgraded Bartolini MK-5 American pups replacing the Korean MK-1 pups. The pre is the stock Korean pre-amp, I was planning on replacing it but haven't. The pick ups' wires are just taped to the existing wires. I have left plenty of wire. I didn't want to solder them in case I wanted to not use them. The ebony board is in very good shape other than some string wear. I have photographed as closely as I can but will borrow my friend's camera for a better view and update photos. There are a few dings on the body and a good one by the pick-up. I have waxed the finger board with Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil and gunstock wax, an idea from a bass player article written by Rick Turner. Is Tung oil good protection? . The neck is straight with lowish action for a bit of growl. Neck profile is f=on the flat side, very comfy. I am selling because I want a passive 4 string J Bass. I also prefer a 34" scale to the Lakland's 35". Other than that it's been a great bass. I will ship in an old gig bag. Paypal is preferred but I will take money order or cashiers check.
$ 600 shipped CONUS.
I have 2 cheesy sound clips if you're interested ( I didn't have a preamp at the time, these are straight to the computer):

Ah man thanks. I haven't really done much recording after that since my computer died, I'm on the wife's laptop. It's in really in great shape but with this economy there's so many cool basses for sale.

bump for a fellow Tampan!

and wish that I had the wherewithal to spring for your bass, as I've always wanted to try a fretless 5er. BUT I have a Tony Franklin fretless on the way, a 55-01 just in, and at least one (maybe two) basses that I need to sell before I spend again.

BUMP!

Thanks! Nice to not have the rain from last week eh? Enjoy your new basses. 55-01s are a great value. Always dug the Tony Franklin from a far. He's a cool bassist as well. I remember hearing that slid harmonic on the Firm's Radioactive. So cool!

I meant to say 55-02 - that's what I just got. I'd been looking at some 55-01s but ultimately decided on an 02. Plays great.
Yeah, I remember that harmonics slide. Cool stuff.

Bump for your fretless! Great price.
