It's heavy like Steve's bass I believe it is Alder but I will post a pic the wood looks like it has a decent grain.

Sorry for the small pic but I believe it is a good one to tell what kind of wood this is someone that knows wood could tell.

more info

Bathroom scale says 10.5 lbs
Steve's Bass is Alder. Based on what I have seen as far as samples of Alder wood grain this bass is made of Alder wood as well.

7.25” Radius one piece maple neck classic tuners a classic bass better than any MIM and on par if not better than most American P-Basses and very close in comparison to Steve's reissue.

Bass is on Evil Bay

It should say next to the model number in the cavity. If its Alder, its PB57-US

the neck cavity or the control cavity? I will have to look. Even if it's a Japanese model? I am just looking at the wood grain from the pic I posted it appears to be Alder. The grain lines look similar to Alder. Also Alder sometimes tends to get waves like Ash.

Alder and basswood look pretty similar in the fact that they're both boring plain looking wood. The Japanese models have the -US designation. PB-57 means a maple necked Precision bass. PB-57-US is the upgraded model and has alder instead of basswood, as well as better hardware and american electronics and pickups.

Wow ! That bass is SWEET !!! You also have a really great camera. You made the details come to life.

The other day I said I wanted a bass so clean I could eat off of it - The waiter showed me your bass....

I am SURE that bass has the "sound" - the signature fretboard noise we all know and love. That bridge is killer, too !

Bump for a GREAT TB'er who has great taste in gear (did you notice the Crown XTi-2000 AND the Star Wars board game !!!

Thanks bro. I appreciate the boast of confidence. Yes it is the Killer P sound and the signature clicking fretboard sound we all try to capture but I have 2 Peavey Furys that make that sound as well. The advantage of the Furys are they have a 1.5" width at the nut which is gr8 for me. Fury also is light weight another plus for me. The Fender has that "classic" 1.75" width P neck - its gr8 but I love the feel of a more narrow neck hence the Furys and the Cirruses for that matter.
Clean this bass has never been gigged out. I baby it. It is a 9 or above outta 10.

The camera I am using is an Olympus Stylus 1010 10.1 megapixel 7 x optical zoom - it's compact too a gr8 buy. I usu have to take 20 to 30 pics to get really good ones though.

That Crown is a beast of a power amp top notch quality from a US company That board game is the ART Tube Channel preamp. I love it that preamp. That preamp is the reason why I quickly put a BBE BMAX-T preamp up for sale. I just recently bought the BBE but cannot get used to the "soft knee" compressor.
Thank again bro.

Lanis
