Was trying to trade these for an amp but I doubt its going to happen so I'll offer these up for sale to see whose interested. Some people had offered to buy these from me before but I accidently deleted a good chunk of my inbox. I've got a few gig bags to ship these in, most are pretty cheap in all honesty. More than adequate for shipping and storing the bass in. Not really interested in trades, but it never hurts.
Up for grabs is a Sonic Blue FrankenJazz. It sounds and plays excellently and it looks killer. I've had it for a week and its been sitting in my living room for the most part. Even then it still never fails to get compliments. The girl I'm seeing, the first time she saw it went, "Oh when did you get that one?" "Yesterday, and I'm getting rid of it?" "Why do you get rid of the one I actually like?!"
Its very killer looking but its not for me. I'm not really a jazz bass guy, let alone an active guy try as I might. I've been through a lot of active basses and decided that the only one I've ever liked is my Ibanez Musician. I used to own a high end 4 banger and couldn't stop fiddling with the knobs!
I got this with the intention of finally trying the Audere preamp. And yes, its all that and a bag of chips. A gazillion tones in this thing.
What subsector says, and no I don't have the Mighty Mite neck: Quote:

* an Audere preamp
* Stewmac Golden Age Vintage Vibe Jazz Pickups
* A high-mass bridge of unk. brand (a Gotoh 201 perhaps?)
The bass looks, plays, and SOUNDS great! For full disclosure, the paint was a rattle-can job, but a damn good one. She shines like Shaq's head in the 4th quarter of a playoff game, and I get more compliments on this one than any of my other basses. There are a few chips/dents here and there, but nothing that I could get to photograph. The Bass looks much darker in the pics than it really is. In person, it's much closer to Sonic Blue (or maybe Sea Foam Green). I have attached a few of Bob Westbrook's original pics from when I bought it (for a more accurate color depiction). For the right deal, I will also include the Mighty Mite Maple neck that was in it when I bought it (if you're not into the whole B/B look). And yes, I added the 60's Fender Waterslides to the headstocks of both necks...I did'nt laquer over them, so it's easy to remove if you want.

Great and even sounding P-bass, especially with the reverse P-bass pick up! This bass has some serious mojo and the wood on the body is worn away in spots. Probably from some aggressive slapper. Frets were dressed and levels and it had the pots replaced with 250k ones from all parts and a .33uf cap on the tone pot.
The knobs were moved and the hole from one of them was plugged and had the Woody the Woodpeck sticker placed over it. The jack is now on the side of the bass too.
Water Buffalo nut and dunlop strap locks complete the package.
D tuner is a little stiff to turn.

However it was strung BEAD when I got it and I don't really need the low B in a 4 banger and was always planning on getting a new nut for it. Never got around to it. Its strung with light gauge rounds and is strung up EADG to keep tension on the neck.
Lots of player wear on the neck as this bass has been passed around a lot in my group of friends here in NY over the years between buying it and buy backs and is nicely broken in as a result. There are a few dings at the top of the neck but you don't notice them while playing. The neck was stripped at one point so the wood where the Ibanez logo used to be is a lot lighter and you can still see what it would've said.
Refinned into blueburst, its pretty amateur but its a pretty good one if you ask me. The pots and pickup were changed but I'm not sure into what or when. Frets are in good shape too.

I'm not sure if I want to part with this or not. Pics up in about a week as a graphic designer friend is refinishing the body. I'm not sure how it'll look when its done as I gave him free reign to do whatever he wanted to do with it. The neck on this is to die for and the pickups in it sound killer. Very tight and aggressive like a drop kick to the chest and not at all muddy!
This is basically a bastard child between an MIA P-bass and a JV Squier P-bass with better electronics.
Whats in this bass?
JV Series Squier neck. Its been refinished and had a refret. The new frets are brass.
JV Squier Series Tuners
Fender Vintage String Tree
Fender USA Alder body
Reddish Brown Tort Pickguard (from Jeannies or WD music, I can't remember)
JV Series bridge
Fender AV series knobs
CTS pots
Lindy Fralin +8% overwound P-bass pickup.
Sprague cap valued at .47uf
Bone nut
Fender USA strap buttons
Fender USA neck plate, screws, and pickguard screws.

This bass is currently in PA but will be back in NYC soon to mail out. I'll have more pictures up then. I haven't played this bass in almost a year but I gave it to my friend to play and tour with his band for awhile. New pictures don't show the current bridge. I can put a much lighter bent plate regular Fender bridge on this for less $
MIA Fender highway series neck from 2007 with original hardware
Weird 80s body in Fender dimensions. The woods are ash, wenge, and padouk handmade by some guy called KR Glenn. He does great work. The body is routed under the P/G to reduce weight. Lots of mojo as this bass was played a ton. The lacquer is gone in spots on this bass.
Fender USA Claw bridge from the early 80s
All parts knobs
Early Dimarzio model P pickup.
Cloth wiring Allparts 250 pops
Orange .47uf cap
Plastic Mirror P/G that my friend made a paisley amoeba design. Its sealed onto the pickguard.
New design:
When I got it:
