I have available a 1980 G&L L1000 preproduction prototype. The neck stamp is from Sept.,11 of 1980. Serial # BOO1903.. Mahogany body and an ebony fingerboard.
You can tell by the finish that it was never rubbed out and has some orange peel on it and some checking on the back. There are a few localized paint chips that are through to the wood underneath and a hole where it looks like something was screwed in to the top of the body after it was painted, but no dings of any real consequence. Neck has checking on the back along with a few minor knicks , the worst you can see in the pic. Frets are good with most of the wear on the lower frets only. In addition to the pickup switch there is kill switch that simply turns the pickup off. Everything functions as it should including the trussrod.

Not in collectors condition but a real player for certain. Very aggressive sounding and very loud acoustically. The nut width is just a tick over 1 5/8 " and I guess the weight to be about 9 1/2 lbs. Will come in a hardshell case.

600 plus 50 for insured shipping.

Pics. can be found here http://web.mac.com/klanger2003

Please p.m. if you have any questions or would like some additional pics.

It means it is the original finish ,but it was not rubbed out due to the fact that it was not meant to be sold so they did not go to the extra effort. The gentlemen I got this from actually tracked it down to a store in the midwest where some of the original units were liquidated to at a discount.

This bass is spoken for pending payment. Thanks for the interest.
