F/S - Warmoth bass - very nice bass!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I just traded for this bass and while it is an incredibly playing and sounding bass, it does sound alomst exactly like my Stingray with Basslines pickup and preamp. I am looking to expand into other "tones!"

This bass is virtually in new condition. The smallest little marks on the back side (like fingernail scratches) - and that's all I can find. The face of the bass looks like new. NO dings or marks on the neck.

I believe QUADZILLA was the originator of this bass, so you know this is a quality bass!

Here's the info I received when I bought the bass..

Warmoth Basss Description

This bass is all Warmoth and was assembled by arguably the best luthier in the Balt/DC Metropolitan area (John Thurston). I'll list specs below but in addition to the assembly, the neck was leveled, dressed, fret ends were cleaned up (you feel not edges at all), etc. Bass received a full setup. This is one of the FINEST looking, playing and sounding basses you will find.

Warmoth Body:
Dinky P Carved Top Black Korina w a Flamed Maple top option
Routed at Warmoth for a Gotoh 206 Bridge ($340)
Gotoh 206 Bridge inset in body ($48)
Duncan Designed MM Pickup ($120)
Duncan Pre-Amp BEQ-3 circuit (w internal trim pots), which gives 12db of cut and/or boast control of the bass, middle and treble frequencies. A 'slap' switch is also included, activated via a push/pull master volume control, which adds an aggressive mid-range attack. ($120)
String-Thru Ferrules and route ($30)
Chrome Knobs ($30)
Strings (D'Addario Nickle Wounds) ($25)
Stap Buttons (Schaller I think) $20

Full assembly by Thurston Instruments (body, electronics, neck, etc, etc) and neck leveling, crowning, polish, fret dress, and full setup, etc, etc ($320)

So this bass would cost you about $1500 to get this done.

NOTE - I do believe this bass has the Basslines (Music Man, 3-band) preamp, and not the (less expensive) BEQ preamp. In looking at photos of both preamps, it looks nothing like the BEQ (and just like the Basslines better preamp).

Incredible bass, but I already have this "sound." Like the rest of you - I'm trying to free up some GAS money to try some other new stuff!

I'm asking only $495 shipped for this bass! I have no doubt that this is the best bass you can buy for under $500!!!

some pics I just took...

Bump for a great price, I agree that this might be the best bass you can buy for less than $500. The quality of every component is way better than you'd get on a usa fender IMO. I'd be all over this except I don't like the dinky body shape and prefer natural finishes

Thanks for the comments and questions!

I'll double check on the neck wood and nut width!

Forgot to mention - comes in a rather inexpensive semi-hard shell case.

Not a perfect fit, but not bad.

I would pad the interior of the case also (for shipping) so the bass doesn't slide around.

I believe the body was finshed this way by the Warmoth folks.

Is the body sculpted up, like a PRS? Difficult to tell if it is just the glare.

Gorgeous bass!

I'm quite surprised too. I'd be up for it in a month or so, just not yet. Dig the brass nut as well!
