F.S. Washburn XB 925 -- like new -- price reduced

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

Several years ago, I decided I should learn to play bass. I forget which band I was watching, but the bass player looked to be having a grand old time and it looked much easier than playing lead guitar. Since I had a friend that worked at a local music shop at the time who was willing to give me a "bro deal" I decided to get a quality instrument instead of a beginner's instrument.

A few months later, I realized that playing bass was harder than it looked and my contribution to the music world should be as an audience member. However, I've hung on to the instrument thinking I would someday take it up again. That day isn't coming and it seems a total waste for something this nice to continue collecting dust. While it does look great hanging on my living room wall -- and it is still in mint condition -- it deserves more.

It is a Washburn XB 925 SN 9608206. It has a satin finish which sort of looks like it has no finish at all. This is a very good looking bass. The body is Swamp Ash with a bird's eye maple top (at least I think that's what it is). Additional specs:

Neck Type: 3 piece maple (bolt on)
Fingerboard: Fretted rosewood
Finish Satin, natural finish
Pickups: 2 Bartolini Soapbars, active with onboard preamp
Controls: volume, mid, bass, high, ultra mid

Made in Chicago

Comes with Washburn Hard case + any other bass related odds and ends I find (strap, etc.).

Asking $750 shipped anywhere in the US.

Since I don't play any longer, I'm not interested in trades.

Thanks much.

Price Reduced

After reading elsewhere on this forum how awesome Washburns are but how no one will buy them used because they aren't well known enough.

Is that a set in or bolt on neck?

I agree with Washburns not being well known. I have several that I play and love.

The XB series were bolt on neck. That appears to be a Birdseye Maple top.

Damn, too bad this didn't show up last year when I was looking for one! I played one in a music store once and I really like the feel. Nice low action too! I just can't swing it at this time!

Bump for a well made, USA made bass!

Just a nod to a really great bass. These were kind of swept under the rug and overlooked but they're really wonderful basses.

Thanks. I am amazed at how many mesages I'm getting saying what a great bass this is and how few I'm getting saying they are interested in buying this great instrument. It is beginning to feel sad and unwanted.

Would you happen to know the string spacing at the nut and bridge?

Thanks

No. The person who designed this bass is on this forum and I can ask.
