F/S: XOTiC XJ-1T 4 (4 string)

PRICE DROP NOW $1685

For sale is an astounding 4 string XOTiC XJ-1T Easily the nicest bass I have ever owned. I purchased this instrument from Bass Specialties on 4/20/12. This is the earlier version of the XJ-1T, mid-frequency switches are on the back of the body.

As nice as this instrument is, I am selling because I find myself going back to passive p basses with flatwounds.

9.1 lbs.

What to say? The smoothest/sweetest neck I have ever had the pleasure of playing, every single fret rings like a bell. The preamp gives you endless tonal shaping options. Nice access to the high frets. Light scratching on back of body (around the belt buckle area) and a few small nicks that were hard to photograph. There are two noticeable nicks, up close and personal, but they are small, just want to be honest.

- Bolt-on 22-fret neck, offset body

- Lindy Fralin pickups

- Hipshot UltraLight tuners and bridge

- Custom-shaped pickguard

- XOTiC 3-band preamp

- Runs at 18 volts for extended headroom

- The chrome knobs are the same as a traditional J-bass: an individual volume control for each pickup and a master tone. The mini-knobs are for the active preamp and control bass, mid and treble.

- Both of the volume knobs on the bass are push/pull. The first allows the bass to go into passive mode for going completely classic J sonically. The second is a unique humbucking mode that combines both pickups as one big pickup. In this mode, your front volume control now becomes a master volume for some serious thunder.

- Accessible through the back panel are additional mid-frequency switches and an output gain control.

- Oil-finished maple neck with a maple fretboard

- Jescar nickel-silver frets

- Ash body

$1785 $1685 shipped with hardcase in CONUS

TRADES:
Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 + cash
Aguilar GS 112 + cash
Lakland Skyline 44-64 custom (Duck Dunn, 9lbs or under please) + cash

I've got the same model with the updated electronics and HRI. It's easily the most versatile bass in my entire collection. There's no mix that it doesn't sit well in. Good luck with the sale/trade.

I've played this bass many times and its a monster. Very well balanced, fast, slim neck and Tone to make your heart sing. If it had one more string, you wouldn't be reading this.

If this had a rosewood neck, it would be GAME OVER. Gorgeous body. Free bump.

Sadly, I am not very "tech" knowledgable...I am not 100% sure how to answer your question regarding neck profile. Here's a link with info to the bass.

Hope that helps!

The neck profile on the 4 string Xotic J basses are not as thin as a classic J bass and not as thick as a classic P bass. The profile is definitely in the middle.

The basic circuit and tone are the same. There are some improvements for the new one. The battery life for the new one is longer and the new one has bright switch as well as mid switch.

Check out the John Pena's explanation video for E.W.S. Tri-logic Bass Preamp 2.

Actually has a couple differences between preamps. The basic EQ is the same. The differences are in the controls and switches. Early version has vvt setup with a push/pull series pot. Later has a vbt set up with no series push/pull. The early version has mid switching with 4 frequency choices located in the control cavity accessable from holes in the plate. The later version has a top mounted bright switch and mid switch.

I own one of each and I prefer the sound and features of the early version over the later. That series push/pull is the greatest feature and the later version dosent have it.
