Up for sale is a Yamaha 5 String bass, model BBN5A in "translucent blue" (teal) finish (w/matching head stock), serial # 6FD001. This bass was manufactured in Japan. It is currently a discontinued model and was purchased used in 2005, so I am not sure when it was manufactured or purchased new. Looks nice and plays beautifully. More info can be found here

Features
Body - Alder with Maple top
Neck - Maple, bolt on (I believe it is a jazz style neck. Pretty fast playing)
Fretboard - Rosewood
Frets - 24 jumbo frets
Pickups - 2 Active hum caneling Alnico V soap bars
Hardware - Gold hardware (knobs, yamaha tuners)
Bridge - Solid Brass
Scale - 34'' (Very tight low B!)
Controls - Master volume, pan, bass cut/boost, treble cut/boost, 3 position midrange EQ (normal, mid cut, mid boost)
String spacing - I believe it is 19 mm at the bridge
Weight - Not sure, but feels to be about 9 or 10 lbs. Very light and comfortably contoured.
Nut - I could not find any info about width, but it is a bone nut and set for BEADG string set up
The bass is currently missing the 9v battery cover, but this does not effect its playability. There are also a few scratches on the back as shown in the pictures below (note, there are NO scratches on the front of the bass, although the flash on the camera caused a reflection in a few pics that make it appear to have a scratch on the top wing by the strap button)
A heavy duty leather gig bag will be included with this purchase. Shipped only in continental US (buyer pays shipping/handling, to be added on to final sale price).
Asking $650 OBO *Note* This is not my bass. I am facilitating this sale for my band mate who is primarily a singer/guitarist. He purchased this bass used a few years ago (from the very reputable DiPinto Guitars in Philly) to use for a solo recording project. I have used it as a back up on a few gigs when my main bass was in the shop and occasionally at practice, so it has been used very sparingly under his ownership. From my experience with it, I can say that it plays beautifully and has a ton of tonal versatility (gets excellent slap tone for all you funkmiesters out there). The mid range EQ presets really provide a lot of flexibility. The only reason I am not purchasing it myself is because I recently made a big bass purchase and simply cannot justify buying another bass! Please PM or email me with any offers and/or questions (or you can email the owner, Kelvin, directly at
kelvinmelvyn@hotmail.com. Although if it's anything spec related, I am probably your best contact since I know more about the model!)

Close up of scratches. Note, the scratches are the 3 bright white scratches...top, just left of center (with longer hairline scratches on either side), and just below center of pic. The rest of what appears to be scratches are just smudges that the flash on the camera intensified!
