I'm the original owner of this bass.
I bought it from Washington Music Center.
They had multiple instruments of virtually every brand
of 6 string to choose from,
and I spent most of the day trying out all kinds.
Once I narrowed it down to this model Ken Smith,
they brought me a few more up from the basement .
This bass was the best of the bunch.
This bass was the backup for my Zon Sonus 6,
and I only used it for occasional practice and recording.

Do you have any pics of the bass straight on?

Or more importantly, what's the width of the body?

I've only tried one Smith before & it was HUGE on me !!!

This bass is the BSR style which is no wider than an MTD. or close. The style you tried i believe is the vintage body style which is larger or should I say wider. I hope this helps.[/b]
