F/T Hofner Contemporary Beatle Bass

I bought this back in November and absolutely love the tone, however it's not comfortable for me to play. I'm a big guy and the lack of contour on the small body was hurting my forearm.

This is in new condition. I took the pickguard off, put a set of "new" Maxima/Rickenbacker short-scale flatwounds on it (got these strings from a guy on the RickResource forum who had a bunch of sets in packaging from the early 70's, never used). They feel, and sound a lot like Pyramid flats, if you're familiar with those. I also swapped out the stock knobs for the "teacup" ones. I also put Dunlop straplocks on. I also took off the "Contemporary Series" writing on the truss rod cover. It looks great. No damage to the TRC finish. I have all the parts including the factory rounds that will be included with any trade. Also, the hardshell case is included which is also in new condition.

If you're looking for old-school thump or want to get your McCartney tone on, this is for you.

As for trades, I'm open to other short-scale basses, USA Peaveys (Millenium), Epiphone Casady, or other basses of similar value. I don't have any extra cash to trade up.

do you have a cash price? Or just looking to trade? I have a beatles cover gig coming up, this would be an entertaining addition.

Just looking to trade right now. If nothing interesting comes along I might sell outright. Thanks for the interest.

How you took off the writing without damage the finish?

You use Brasso cleaner and a 100% cotton cloth. Got the idea here. Worked fantastic.

I'd be interested but it's above my budget unfortunately.

I hear ya Ferniff. I'm in no hurry to sell.

I'd also consider a good 12 string acoustic guitar as a trade.

Well I'm supposed to be getting a bonus soon next week, and I'm hoping to sell my own viola bass as well. Hopefully I'll have enough to get this. Can you provide a picture with the pickguard on?

Ferniff, I'll take a pic with the guard back on later this morning. Not a problem. I just got home from work and I'm beat. Thanks for the interest!
