Thumbs up Fantastic FrankenFender cheap!

Sign in to disble this ad
NEW PHOTOS! See below!

I hate to put this for sale, but I need the money for my dream bass. I have a head for sale and some other stuff too because of it. NOW LOWERED!

I love it to death and will most likely buy it back if it comes for sale. The parts alone make it worth it to me, and it's a great versatile bass for me playing all kinds of music.

Here is dcr's original ad.
  • Squire P5 body
  • 34" scale
  • 9.5 pounds
  • (Super Fast) Benavente '51P neck 5-in-a-line
  • Nordstrand NP5 neck p/u
  • Dimarzio Ultra Jazz bridge p/u

The Benavente neck came off of STC1422's Bennie 51P years ago when he had a 4+1 neck made (or so I'm told). As you may know, the older Squire P5 is actually a J/J config (WTH but true)

Looks much better in person. Click for full gallery!
https://picasaweb.google.com/mattsk4..._m5aC50OaAwQE#

NOW LOWERED! $399 plus whatever actual shipping is. Trades considered!

Almost traded for a G&L 2500 yesterday, but the guy's guitar player didn't like it.

Fender

Sorry. I meant how good is the sound of the Low B string? Is it like the other strings only lower? Or is it flabby sounding?

I have no idea what bullT is doing in the thread. Is that a trade offer or what?

The B seems good to me. It's 34" so it doesn't have that ULTRA tight feel like a Lakland, but I have not noticed any issues. It's all subjective, though, so take that for what you want. The action being so low makes it great for me playing. The guy I had offer a trade for said it was great when he raised the action. He didn't like low action on any bass and didn't have any issues with the B.

Are the controls on that vol/tone/blend?

All passive I assume.

Yep passive. I haven't played it for a while so I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure it's set up that way.

Hey, I know a couple people in Madison. Nice college there.

Yeah, I really liked the bass when I first got it, especially that neck. Then I realized I just don't need two fives when I only play 4 string! Doh. :/

Mattsk42, if you still have this when I get back from my honeymoon, we'll talk. (Especially if there's another MN tb gtg). I've got a 4 you might be interested in, plus cash from me.

Unfortunately for me, I need to wait until after we get back from our honeymoon (wedding is next Saturday). I'm not allowed to spend any money on anything that isn't wedding related right now.

OK cool sounds good. What's the 4? What part of the cities are you in? Just curious.

I'm in Minneapolis. It's an Epi EB-3 that's been refinished silver. Were you at the last gtg?

I believe that it is 1-7/8" nut width, 3/4" spacing at the bridge. That's the specs on the standard Benavente '51 P which is where the neck came from.
