Feeler 2004 Gretsch G-6072

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a feeler for a 2004 Gretsch G-6072 Long scale bass. These were reissues of the 60’s Broadkaster bass made between 1998-2006.

OVERVIEW
The 6072 long scale bass has 20 frets on a 34" scale neck that allows the player to easily reach even the highest fret. This playability is made possible by the bass' double cutaway. We reissued this mid-sixties model in response to our customers asking for a bass with a longer neck than the 30 1/4" scale of the Broadkaster models. The bass features a master volume control with individual pickup volume controls and switches are used for pickup selection, tone variation, and standby.

Condition
She is in excellent condition. I ‘d give it a 9 but I’m pretty critical. She has some fingernail swirls around the controls and where a pick guard would be and I found a ding in the headstock while photographing her. Not through the finish but I have it marked in the photos. I don’t remember bumping it. I did buy it used but never noticed it before.

Playability

I have a Jones for hollow/semi hollow bodies.
In the past I've owned a Fender Coronado II, an Allen Woody, an Epi Viola, a Jay Turser Beatle bass, a Tacoma Thunderchief 5, an Ibanez Artcore, a G&L Asat and an Epi Rivoli bass. I will say that this Gretsch is a pleasure to play. If I were to say anything negative about it I would say that the neck seems to be a little long. I corrected this issue by installing a Gretsch strap button at the neck joint. This allows a better strap position for me.

I’m listing this as a feeler because I’m not really sure if I want to sell her. Like I said she’s a pleasure but I’m just not using her enough.

I’m more interested in a trade. Some things that come to mind are Gibson basses like a T-bird or LP. Rick, MM (never had one) Active Fenders or a Lakland Decade or Hollow body? ….temp me.
I’m not that interested in cash but I think a fair price would be $1100 shipped CONUS. I accept PayPal. I have 100% feedback on TB and 100% (40) on theBAY (mike53) of which at least 15 are basses.

Like I said this is a feeler. I’m bored and GASing so please don’t be offended if I turn down a decent offer or pull the ad.

I treat people in a courteous respectful manner and expect the same.

Lol, that's a protective pad to cut down on buckle rash...I call it a diaper

I don't know about the solid bodies but all the Gretsch hollow bodies I've ever seen have them.

That is a pad back there. Classy bass! There is a real old one near me hanging in a shop, it has a funky mechanical brass mute on it. The neck on it is super chunky like an upright almost. I know this one is much slimmer. Good luck!

Amazing looking bass. If for some reason I don't connect with the Decade I have on the way, you'll be hearing from me.

Thanks, I bought her new in '65 and toured with it for two seasons.
According to the SN it was the 193rd made (they start with 2000).

Here it is in a promo shot (please excuse the goofy bassplayer).
