Just bought this SMOKIN jazz just a short while ago. Thought I might need a 4 string. Realistically, what I do on a 4, I can do on a 5. I must admit, I can do it a whole lot easier on this 4, but I feel somewhat not fully clothed without my low B. Nevertheless this is a take it or leave it post. The bass is absolutely killer. I did a lot of research before buying it. I owned a original 1975 Jazz bass which was stolen by my set-up man around 6-7 years ago. He got my Roscoe 7 also. However this MIJ of which the guy I purchased it from informed me it was made in early to mid 80's ( Fenders website confirm a build date of 1985-1986) plays, sounds and poses a build quality which is exactly the same as my 75 original, if not better. Before purchasing I checked out and compared it to the following: 1979 Jazz original USA, 1964 Jazz original, New fender classic series 60's Jazz, Road Worn 60's Jazz, 70's Classic series Jazz. It was built better and sounded MUCH better. Do the research if you haven't already. These basses are amazing. These are said and to me proven to be the best and fastest necks. The bass plays like absolute butter. I could use the extra ching right now, however if this bass does not sell, i have not problem with putting it in a case to collect more brownie points in the years to come. Gorgeous instrument with exception of ding pictured on right side. They are already becoming a rare find. $750+shipping.
