Feeler FT: Pavel Jazz Deluxe 5

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey y'all

I just came into this Pavel Deluxe Jazz bass, sounds great, plays great, I'm just not getting the exact sound I want out of it, so I'm throwing it up on TB to see if anyone is interested.

There have been modifications to it, here's the link to the page where it was being sold before I got it:

Pavel Jazz Pro Deluxe 5...........now only $2000

So it's pretty much a totally redone bass! It's really nice, and I'm contemplating switching the electronics, but wanna see if there's anyone interested on here.

I'm pretty much looking for: 5'er Laklands, Sadowskys, F basses, MTD's or maybe something else haha

Thanks for checking it out, Cheers.

I'm going to tell you why its not sounding how you want it to sound...its not to Pavel's own specs...someone cut the cavities out to put in soapbars (smh) and then they changed the pre-amp to something totally different. This bass is now making Pavel's products seem terrible when they are some of the finest instruments made to date! If anything try to get in touch with Pavel and let him know about the bass

I think he was referring to the guy that wrote some negative things about the bass. Not that you or your bass are scammers. I'm sure your bass is great even with the mods. I've been there, where a bass sounds great, plays great, looks great, but it's not quite what I was looking for.

Nice bass! Good luck with the sale.

Yeah I know what they're getting at, but the bass is great regardless, just like you said, not what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the post!

Negative comments (which I hate to see posted in a for sale thread) plus it is the only post he's ever made.

Sorry for derailing your thread...
now back th the gorgeous bass at hand.

I'll edit out my previous post if I can.
Was only referring to that one post I quoted from.

All the best with your sale.

Hey peeps,

I would recommend a set of Nordstrand Big Singles on this puppy and it will sound like a real Jazz. I don't know why someone would put dual coils in a Jazz bass, all single coil sizzle will be gone!

Another choice is to call Jim Reed at "Reed James Engineering" and have him make a super single set with the same dimensions as that of the existing shells.

That bass new (made to original specs) is $3,800.00!

Change the pickups... you'll be blown away! (Just my two cents).

I am the owner that put the pup/pre combo in the bass....the reason I choose the pup/pre combo was because I did not want the bass to sound like a typical jazz The bass came to me with an Aguilar OBP3 and Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pup/pre combo. The Nordstrand and Glock setup is miles ahead, IMO, in-terms of refinement and overall sound quality. If quid pro quo is OK with you, I dont know why someone would put an OBP3 and Dimarzio Ultra Jazz setup in this bass I am not trying to start a pissing match.....just sayin' (I know the bass was built to customer spec, he requested the Aggie/Dimarzio combo). We all have different tone goals. My tone goals for the bass were 100% satisfied with the pup/pre combo I had installed. If I can say this much, I was much happier with the bass tonally after the mod than I was before. This bass was NOT sold by me due to the lack of tonal quality.....I just had a baby and needed to raise some cash. I sold all my basses except for the one that NEVER gets sold, my 99' Lakland 55-94. I suppose if the OP, or potential buyer, wanted to get a traditional jazz bass sound, he/she could install a coil tap switch for ea pup. This would/should allow ea pup to operate in single coil mode or dual coil mode at the flip of a switch. This would be a heck of lot cheaper than buying a new set of pups.

To g4string: Then YOU definitely made the right choice and I respect you for it!

25 years in this business has shown me that there are no 2 customers alike. Unless it's a production model, my basses for the most part are made to order... that's what someone is paying me for.

BTW, congratulations on the birth of your baby. I have 3 precious children and love them with my life!

Pavel-

(now it's up to 3 cents... lol)
