FENDER 1994 Precision Special "Cowpoke" - Sunburst, PJ, Active Pre

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!

I have two of these - my other one has a J-Style neck (which I prefer) while this one has a P-style neck, so going to sell it.

Fender only made these Precision Specials (affectionately nicknamed the "Cowpoke" bass) between 1994-1998 and they're one of the best MIM basses I've tried. This one is used but in good condition - some light buckle rash on back, clearcoat scratching on the body edge by the bridge (where the strings were loaded), light finish nicks on the body edges. Nothing major, just normal player wear. The neck however, is near perfect - frets are clean & polished with no wear, just cleaned/oiled the fingerboard, back of the neck is smooth. Truss rod works perfectly and just set it up with new strings - action is low and fast.

SELLING FOR $350 shipped in the US (with Fender Gig Bag). I got the bass with a SKB hardshell case, but it's pretty hammered - interior and top are clean but the bottom corners are cracked. All latches work and the case does the job. Add $20 for the case (just to cover the extra shipping charge). International shipping is no problem, just PM for quote.

That's hot! Too bad it doesn't have a 5th string...miss out on a lot of great basses being a 5 string player. Best of luck!

How does this neck differ from your Jazz style model ?
Radius ? Width @ nut ? C profile ?
How about a pic of the one you're NOT selling just for a tease ?

Thanks...I think most guys should have both 4's and 5's - most gigs you're not going to need the 5-string anyway.

The only difference is the nut-width - 1.5" (Jazz) vs 1.625" (P-Bass). I had to replace the neck on the other one. Everything else is the same, down to the color. They're twins - almost exact, but not quite.

I just picked this one up recently - I was planning on doing a bunch of mods to it but the neck profile isn't as comfy as my other one (for me...I like skinny necks). The pics hide some of the scratches/nicks, but yes, it's a great looking bass.
