Fender '51 Precision Bass Reissue with Upgrades ...$550 Shipped (no trades please)
________________________________________

I bought this bass two years ago from a very nice fellow TBer. He really had sunk some $ into smart upgrades (see list below). I paid $550 for it ( a steal!) and will happily accept $550 for it. Paypal is fine.

The only thing I did when I got the bass upgrade wise was to put TI Jazz Flats on it (v. expensive strings..that are a very nice match for this instrument). I also took it to luthier Walt Johns who lowered the action a bit and intonated it for me.

I would describe the condition as very, very good. The only issue is the tone control makes a scratchy noise when rotating it; I have had no problem with this and there is no unpleasant noise or static or anything when I play the bass. (If it bugged me I would have run it down to my luthier and had it fixed.)

Here is the previous owner's description of the upgrades:

Fender Crafted in Japan '51 Precision Bass Reissue in Butterscotch Blonde for sale only with the following upgrades:

Nordstrand Single Coil Pickup
BadAss II Bridge
Chrome Pickup and Bridge Covers
Custom Wooden Single-Screw Thumbrest
Straplocks

Here is a link to the thread I bought it from:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/fender-51-precision-bass-reissue-upgrades-$550-shipped-549348/

Your questions are welcome but to save your time and possible aggravation please note: 1) I am absolutely, positively NOT interested in trades and 2) the price is firm. I got it at a ridiculously low price two years ago and am happy to share my good fortune but ...shipping costs have gone way up since then and so has the market for 51 reissues I believe. There is a $70 or so set of TI jazz flats on there....

Thanks for looking.

Bill

Very nice P. Do you have a case for this?
And why do they call it a thumb rest when it's below the strings? (rhetorical question)

Thx.

Retorical answer - it's called a finger rest. For those that strum with their thumb.

The color is yellow

Re. the color it is "butterscotch" like the picture of the generic one here. (This is not my bass but I am including it to give a better idea of the color.)

Pictures of my actual bass with all the upgrades (from my cell phone...not very high quality ) are at "photobucket" link in an earlier post.

This is a great price for a great bass. This should not last long. If you are in the market for one of these, buy this one and don't kick yourself later.

The kickin' has already started. I got two basses to sell, one enroute, and now I want this one. The perfect storm for marital bliss (not).

Rob,thank you.

Vin-Tone, this is a "Crafted In Japan" instrument with an "R+five digits" serial number. According to the Fender web site (see link here) this indicates it was created in 2004 - 2005.
