Mid 90's Fender 51 Re-issue, this is NOT a CIJ, check out those honkin' big ferrules in the back, neck is stamped 51 EX, all stock, but some bozo- not me- decided to do a 'relic' job on it. Neck has had most of the finish- and the serial #- removed, but feels like the real deal, has some killer figuring in the maple. Body is nice and resonant, currently wearing Fender flats (of course). This is a really cool vintage-looking bass that sounds great with the flats, and really honks with a set of nickel rounds. Ships in a cheesy but functional bag. Shipping to Canada and the US 48, $550.00.

can you post some more pictures of the heaviest 'relic' areas? particularly on the neck/headstock, and on the top near where the contour would be?

any dings/dents? or just heavy sanding?

The relicing was mostly done with what looks like 600 grit sandpaper. The finish under the guard is mint. The guard looks like it was gone over with medium-fine steel wool to take of the gloss from the plastic. The neck was steel-wooled for sure, and the Fender decal is intact, The original finish could be brought back if you wanted to, but it feels pretty damn good right now, so.....
The worst 'wear' is from an attempt to imitate a belt buckle rash- about the size of a silver dollar. I'll get pics of the worst areas, but the whole bass looks like a Custom Shop relic 55, without the contours, of course.

Is that bright spot on the left hand side of the pictures a reflection? Or is that relicing?

That's 'relic'ing. Down to wood and grain there. I'll post up more pics tonite.
