I am in the UK and have one of these basses and they are stunning. They sound amazing and play beautiful. Someone is going to get a cracking bass.
They are also very very rare. I don't suppose you know what the pickups are in them? All I could find out was vintage style but not sure if this is Fender Custom shop 60's or other.
Good luck with the sale.

Thanks Linus. Yes, this one of Fender's better models. I don't belief the pickups are the CS '60s, instead Fender calls them "Vintage Japan Jazz Bass Single Coil". No idea what that means but they sound great.

No worries, they are amazing basses. I wonder if the Vintage Japan pickups are the JB VINTAGE (USA) ones as sold on some of the other Japan Fender Jazz basses or if they are something else? Either way, they do sound great.

What`s the year of manufacture?

Nice! What is the body wood? I know a lot of MIJs are basswood. Also, did Fender use blocks and binding on 66 jazzes?
|BIGEJ2 ||01-10-2014 07:16 AM |
This is a 2013 model and features an alder body.
Sorry, can't answer the question on real '66 basses. I'm not savvy on vintage models.

Yes, blocks and binding first appeared in 66. My neck is dated june of 66 and has them.

Yes, there are a few years when u get the more 70s looking blocks and binding combined with the 60s headstock logo(classy if u ask me),and pickup spacing. A few years later they went to the bigger more disco lookin curved fender jazz logo. That white painted headstock logo combined with the 60s logo is off the hook. I can't quit lookin at it!!!!

A 'that's-one-sweet-bass' bump... (totally digging that bass...)

Gorgeous! I must admit I did not know that this model existed.
Its a longshot, but does anyone know how the pickups/electronics compare to the FSR Jazz that was sold at Guitar Center a while back?
