Well after debating this a bit i've decided to give the TB community first dibs on this bass, since I got it here and you all appreciate a good instrument. Here is the original thread I purchased it from:
FS: Fender American Deluxe P-bass V 60th cherryburst After owning a 16mm fiver and a 19mm one I have decided I need a narrower neck and a 17.5 or 18mm spacing on my next one (which is in the works!).
The bass is in fantastic shape, I will find a way to post new pics if necessary but it looks exactly the same, except for a set of new Boomers. As you can see it has a Badass V bridge on it, which is, well, badass. The original bridge is also in the case. I played it out perhaps ten times and took very good care of it; the only marks i've made are two teeny-tiny cymbal dents at the end of the headstock. It would take a very good camera to make them appear on a photo. The 60th anniversary silver case came unused to me, I have found that the skin on that case is not very durable and thus has a few scuffs, but it is still in good shape too.
If you look closely at the old photos you can see two areas of discoloration on the back of the bass. One is about 1 inch by two inches just below the battery access cover. The other is about 1/4 inch round next to the low B string through insert. They were both caused from the grain lifting up under the finish from too tight a fit from the hardware/cover. I sanded the battery cover edges down to avoid the problem being exasperated. The discoloration of the finish is much more noticeable than in these pics and this was not disclosed by the original seller. I did not mind, however, the bass was in great shape, and still is. It's the back of the bass, after all!
I took it to my friend Hugh McFarland yesterday (co-founder of Lakland basses) and he put it on the buffing wheel for awhile to make it real pretty for the next owner. It looks very nearly brand new now and whoever picks it up will be quite happy indeed.
Tonally this bass is a beast, it sounds like it feels, meaty and fat. I like the 18v preamp quite a lot, especially pumping up the mids and jumping out of a mix. If I could keep it I would, but this one deserves to be someones main axe, and that's not going to be me.
I will give it a number of days here before taking it to my local guitar store to sell, so hopefully someone jumps on it!
I'm asking
$1100 plus s/h. Paypal preferred.
Thanks,
Daniel B.
