Fender AM Jazz Dlx 5

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!
Fender American Jazz deluxe, from 1999, in really nice condtion. Very few marks, there were to small chips in the back of the neck. I actually felt them when I was playing so I took a little wood filler and dealt with it, and never noticed it after that. Very small amount but I didn't want to think about it while playing. This bass weighs 8 lbs 1 oz, that is right. Freaky light. I bought the Nordstrand replacement single coils to give it that extra bite, the original pickups come with it or you can take off 100 and I'll keep the nordys. Also bought a smoke mirror guard for it cause I can't stand tort guards, but the tort guard comes with it as well. I also find the neck slightly less thick than others which I really loved. As stated, its the spacing that is getting to me. Going with a Nordy or Sadowsky OR thinking about one of those 19mm Stringrays.

1000 shipped.

That is STUNNING!!! The body is fantastic. I wish I had the need for another one of these, because it's well equipped.

Cheese, the b string is pretty good. My r bass is better but it's a lot better than most 34" imports. I made use of it without issue. That said, I'd sell this to ya but I am sticking with you need to find a bass that is your dream bass and work towards making it happen. Your reputation for GAS is fairly legendary

Out of curiosity, what do you guys think of the smoke guard? I thought about a lot of different guards, couldn't bring myself to order a black guard but was close to the black pearl. I do agree that the tort and the black are the most classic on this type of bass, but really dig the smoke myself.

I like it. White pearl would be my choice, but that's me.
The Smoke Mirror is a lot better than the Mirror Mirror.

I know I have a reputation, but if you look at my numbers, I have bought and sold fewer basses than many here, including you.

BTW, the smoke guard does look pretty sweet.

Lol, I think I got you 5 to 1 on numbers. Difference is, I rarely buy anything I plan on using, most of it are jumping on deals. It's ruthless sometimes, but the Fodera being built for me right now is paid for through that process, so I'll live

This one was an exception tho, and damn if I can't get it through my head that 18mm is just not gonna do. I would like to say I learned my lesson, but most likely have not. Man, I really want to love a Fender but just don't think it's gonna happen. Honestly, I have really been considering one of those 19mm Stingray 5s, I really think it's the closest I'm gonna get to loving one of Leo's designs.

I actually like MIA Jazz Vs, and find the spacing very comfortable. The Nordstrands included make your bass a very tempting deal.

Also, I've been asked a few times what IS the string spacing.

I think normally it's 18mm, but check the bridge. You can have 19mm spacing actually but it gets close to the edge near the end of the fretboard, and my touch isn't refined enough to do what I do around there.

And it balances great, I noticed no neck dive at all.
