Fender American Vintage 57 Reissue Precision Bass

Hello All,

You are looking at a 2001 Fender American Vintage ’57 Precision Bass Reissue in 2-Tone Sunburst, Serial #V137338. This bass was bought new in December of 2001. It is being sold because I want to get another bass and the only way I can afford to do that is to sell one. This bass has been used and stored in a smoke-free home at a room temperature of between 70 – 79 degrees. It has never been gigged. Everything on this bass is clean and fully functional with a nice straight neck, no dead spots and has very little finish and fret wear despite being 9 years old. I am asking $1150 for this bass shipped with $1150 insurance via FedEx Ground. I am not interested in trades as I already have my next bass picked out and waiting for me.

This bass is in near mint condition and is stock except for the strings. It came with Fender roundwounds, which I took off immediately and replaced with a set of LaBella “Jamerson Set” flatwounds, which gives it THE definitive P-Bass tone, i.e. thick, warm and punchy. Both sets are included. I also had my luthier, who is a Fender Authorized Service Provider, install the pickup and bridge covers, which are easily removed if you choose. All the original case candy is included, i.e. Fender vintage strap and cable, both never used and untouched, manual, hangtag and a nice brochure explaining the details and process of recreating this iconic instrument. Also included is a vintage reissue Fender Tweed Case with gold hardware and orange crushed velvet interior in near mint condition as well.

This, as the post states, is an American Vintage Reissue. It is not Japanese or one of the “50’s” basses Fender makes now that just look vintage. The neck and body are finished with a nitrocellulose lacquer, the split-coil humbucker has the raised pole pieces for the A string, the pickguard is gold anodized aluminum and the tuners are reversed, all of which are historically correct features for a 1957 Fender Precision Bass. The neck also has a nice amber tint from the lacquer which looks wonderful.

The only condition issues this bass has that I was able to find are 2 finish blemishes on right edge of the front of the body and 2 on the right side of the back of the neck. All are about the size of the head of a pin and are quite shallow. The ones on the back of the neck are so slight that they can only be seen, but not felt. I have taken some close up pictures so you can see for yourself. There are also some light finish scuffs on the body that are invisible unless the light hits just right. These are due to the bass being played and would be present in any used bass. The case is in near mint condition with only a small ½” black scuff on the right side and a small mark from a ball point pen near the right case latch.

Please look over the pictures and feel free to contact me with any and all questions you may have. I will only ship to the lower 48 states and accept Paypal for payment. If you don’t have a PayPal account, it is the easiest and safest way to buy and sell online. You can get one set up in minutes at http://www.paypal.com. The bass will be shipped in its case, carefully and tightly packed in a proper-sized box and sealed with quality packing tape. I will detune the bass for shipping as to take stress off the bass due to possible temperature variations that can occur during shipping as well as secure the headstock so the bass does not shift in the case during shipping.

The bass will shipped via FedEx ground with $1150 insurance. As a result of the value of the bass, a signature will be required upon delivery. If you provide me with your availability, I will communicate this to FedEx when I ship the bass so that you can get the bass ASAP. I will do everything I can to get the bass shipped the next business day after receiving payment and will make sure it is shipped out in no less than 48 hours from receiving payment, as long as it isn’t sold over the weekend. In that case, I will ship it out Monday morning.

Chances are that if you have read this far, you know exactly what you are looking for. If you want to own one of the most iconic basses ever made, grab this bass while you can. While this bass can wear a lot of different hats, if you dig the deep, full sound of electric blues and/or 60’s soul, you cannot come any closer to that sound than with this bass with these strings. It even comes with a couple of hunks of foam to shove under the bridge cover for those of you are into that sound. Scroll down to check it out…
