This is the bass that I included in the "Bass you will never sell" thread ... these Classic Series Fender 60's Jazz basses get great raves on here, and rightfully so ... I had an actual 1966 Fender Jazz that I sold in the early 70's, and in my quest to replace it (affordably), I bought 3 of these Classic Series 60's Jazz basses to compare, and THIS ONE, is the one I kept and played every other week in church for the last several years ... it is a 2001, the very first year that this series was offered ... 2001 is also the year that Fender offered this model bass as an FSR, with the matching painted headstock that is so highly sought after .. exact same bass, just matching headstock and custom colors ...
I am selling this bass, because father time has caught up with me, and the vintage 7.25 radius board is just too hard to play with my arthritis getting worse ... I have been using a 9.5" radius bass at church the last few weeks, and find it not nearly as painful ...
This is a 3TSB (Sunburst) model, with the beautiful tort guard, and a VERY nicely aged neck and headstock tint ... I am unable to load pics on here for some reason, but PM me an email and I will take some pictures later tonite and forward them to anyone requesting ...
I cant emphasize the condition of this bass enough .. I dont think there is a nick or ding on it, frets are like new as is the chrome ... also, this being one of the early models, there is NO ROUTING, or CNC HOLES under this pickguard like the current models have ... this bass was also the lightest of the 3 I had, coming in a little over 8.5 lbs on the bath scale ...
I am looking for $550 shipped for this bass, to the lower 48 states only please ... I will overdo my packing as usual ... bubble wrap, double box, etc ... thanks for looking, feel free to ask questions at any time ...

I will try and get something figured out with it and get some pics to you guys sometime tomorrow ... thanks for your patience
a couple of answers to inquiries that may benefit all ... yes, this is MIM, or made in Mexico, just like the Fender Road Worn basses, and the fellow Classic Series 50's P bass that also gets its justified raves on here ...
asked to describe the neck would be fairly difficult, but it is a glossier neck, never felt sticky to me though, a little bit more generous than some of the very thin Jazz necks that cramped my hand (think Geddy), of course 1.5" at the nut, 7.25 vintage radius fretboard, with vintage frets, long stem reverse tuners (62' RI's) and a very nicely aged golden tint ... for those that have these, or have had them, feel free to chime in with your descriptions ... |
