Fender A/E Bass -- very nice, includes uninstalled cafe walter piezo buffer

I really like the feel and sound of this guy, the third I've owned, but I'm pining for a Decade and something has to go to make room for it.

This one is set up well, plays and sounds great. The neck is very comfortable, closer to a J than a P to me, maybe a "B" neck in fender sizing.

Volume knob, tone knob, and blend knob, which blends the piezo with the passive lace sensor P pup.

P sound is quite nice, and the piezo is cool too. It's a very common move to install a piezo buffer on these, so I bought the one cafe walter makes; however when I looked closer I saw that someone had already rewired the piezo. I'm not knowledgeable enough to explain what was done, but I'm including photos of the control cavity and if anyone wants to explain that would be much appreciated.

The bass works great as it is--both pups work and the blend knob blends them. I'm also including the cafe walter buffer (worth $50 on it's own), but it'll be a bit trickier to install, should you choose to do so, since the directions assume original wiring. A tech could do it no problem I'm sure, in an hour tops.

Asking $675 shipped, well-packed with gigbag.

Trade interests: Mesa Walkabout head (newer); Lakland Decade Skyline (passive).

I don't know about the piezo re-wire, but, what I do know is these are very, very nice, high quality units.

Thanks, Chef. Yes, these are great basses with a high reputation and devoted following, pretty rare too...

"I think these will sound killer defretted"

I would counter by pointing out that fretted models are far
more scarce than fretless AEs. Of the fretted ones, I have seen
even less with the traditional headstock and inlays. Most
inlays necks are "hockey stick" as found on the HMT bass. I
had a fretted/dot neck years ago, with traditional headstock.
Sold it in the $900 range as I recall. I truely wish that I was
in a position to swoop down on this one.

Thanks for those details, Spike.

Yeah, there does appear to be lots more of the fretless ones.

So: quite rare fender MIJ, unique and beloved model, priced well under market. Holding out for cash right now...
