Trying to raise cash to buy me a truck! So off goes my old Jazz bass.
It's a 2007. It's FSR, which means it's the Guitar Center exclusive model with the ash body and tort pickguard. Never been gigged. Ships in the nice SKB/Fender HSC that they shipped the 2008+ MIAs in. Weight is about 8.5 pounds on the good ole bathroom scale.
Right now I actually don't have a picture, but I will change that tomorrow. In the meantime look at my picture of my matching 2007 FSR P-bass, which is NOT for sale. Imagine this bass, but in Jazz bass form:
Asking $400 shipped.. I'll have the actual pic of the Jazz up tomorrow when the sun comes out again and I can take a pic.
Edit: OK, I got the actual photos of the Jazz bass. I'm gonna keep the placeholder P-bass photo there because it's nice to look at tho.
"Special Edition" sticker:
As you can see the case is a little scuffed up from being knocked around, but hey, that's what a hard case is for. I guarantee there is no damage of any kind to the case; just those scuffs you see in the photo.

Is there a typical channel rout under the PG?
Is that a 2-piece body?

Bump for a great deal...I'm very tempted, but my empty wallet is saying "NO".

I think the small stuff like craftsmanship is slightly better on the MIAs for the most part
some MIM are solid buildwise and some that I have tried in GC are real dogs
In any case this would be a great base (bass?) to start with if you plan to mod
My Mexican Jazz sounded FINE but I wanted to have something different so I dropped in an Audere pre to make it active...thats the great thing about these basses is that you can swap stuff fairly easily

To answer some questions: It is indeed a Mexican made bass but as you can see it is a cut above the standard MIM Fenders. Unfortunately it does have the channel route under the pickguard. I believe it is a 3-piece body. Currently I think I have her strung up with GHS Boomers, .040 to .095 gauge. Quote:

CliffB: If you want to get an MIA bass, you can find them used for only a few hundred more dollars if you look around. Having owned a 2008 MIA Jazz bass, I will say that the fit and finish IS better overall on the MIA basses. It's the little touches that they put into it like the rolled fretboard edges, gloss finish on the fretboard, graphite rods in the neck for better stability, smoother tuners, string-thru bridge, etc. But the question is, are those improvements worth the hundreds of dollars that they will cost you? For some people the answer is yes, for some people no.
