I've been kicking this around for awhile so here it goes. For sale is a Fender Jaguar in Hot Rod Red for $400 shipped to conus. Let me say that this is the greatest red I've ever seen and these pictures don't do any justice, I also usually hate red!
It is a very nice bass and I really like it. It is "crafted in Japan" The neck plays very well, is nice and straight with nothing wrong with it at all, not even a scratch. There is a very small nic on the head stock and it is pictured. There are some scratches on the back but nothing too nasty, I don't think it picked them up in the picture but they are there. Everything else cosmetically is perfect and is stunning to look at
I have used this in passive mode ever since I bought it. It sounds like every other jazz I've had except you get some cool features like the series parallel switch. The group of three switches near the bottom are two on/off pickup switches and the series parallel switch. The two regular knobs are volume and tone. Then the one switch with two little round wheels is the active/passive switch, treble and bass. I've supplied a picture found here at our local TB to explain this.
Why so cheap of a price you ask? Well I'm not 100% sure the active circuit is properly working. When I turn it on and when the treble or bass knobs are rolled off alot it makes a buzzing noise and I think the series parallel switch has to be on a certain one. I have no idea what this is, but I've always left the battery out and used it passive and have had no issues. I've posted pictures of all the electronics.
Don't let it deter you because it is still a very nice bass. I've thought about completely redoing the electronics for a more permanent passive jazz or maybe a P/J but electronics are not my cup of tea.
If you have any questions please ask.
