FS/FT: Fender Select Jazz Prototype
After much deliberation with Fender HQ in Scottsdale, the previous owner, and inspection at TheBassPlace I want to relist this with as best and accurate information to my knowledge.I appreciate everyone who has helped on TB through this process.
Type: Passive 4 String
-Alder Body (2012 Select prototype but has a darker shade like the new active Select basses)
-Unfinished '62 Vintage Reissue (Flatsawn, origin of neck not known)
- Select Pickups (compared to a few other passive Fenders in the shop and these are more aggressive)
-High Mass Bridge (used in American basses, confirmed with shop)
- Tuners are Japanese Reverse Tuners
A few extra notes: The previous owner bought from his buddy who works at the Corona Facility in Cali. His buddy won 1 of 4 prototype instruments at the Fender Christmas party. One of their mutual friends also works at Fender and actually sanded the body.
Prototypes are not serialized and in Fender world that is a huge thing.
Fender HQ states that all photos I sent appear to reflect genuine parts although origin of neck cannot be determined.
I am not sure if they construct basses at Corona with non US material but apparently the tuners are Japanese Reverse tuners.
The tone of this bass is so growly and warm. As a matter of fact I took it to a church gig recently and it cuts and punches so hard.
Fender states that the body is probably worth the most and feel that $1600 is more than fair. However, without serial numbers I don't feel the same.
So I am asking $1100 (updated price from $1175) shipped to CONUS, plus TSA Case, Vintage Fender Strap, Pick, and instrument cable. May throw in some new Elixir NanoWebs as well. All sales and trades are final. PayPal accepted.
